The black plastic screw on bottom of the pitcher is stuck on the base. We can't seem to get it off. Have any hints

Put the pitcher in the freezer for an hour, boil water in a pan bigger than the base of the pitcher, take the pitcher out of the freezer and stick just the base in the hot water up to the top edge of the base.. Remove it after about 15 seconds and have someone with gloves on screw the base off the pitcher

Water and ice cube dispenser working fine, crushed ice not crushing. 26 cuft side by side model MZD266SHES

You have a solenoid switch which switches the dispenser back and forth from crushed to cube. It could be stuck or not working or the parts connecting it could be disconnected or broken. You will have to observe to see if any parts are moving and if any noise is coming from the solenoid. Crushed ice is the default position and the solenoid is energized to cube ice.
Remove the dispenser cover by gently prying starting at the bottom going round and round a little at a time to prevent from breaking it. When it's off the screws will be exposed to access the other components.

Frost inside the ice dispenser chute and the ice cube dispenser seems "stuck" on crush mode instead of dispensing full cubes.

The stuck on crush mode , is caused by ice frosted in front of the ice bin , blocking the ice bin flap from opening , when calling for cube ice . Removing the ice bin and cleaning or defrosting completely , will solve this problem , AFTER , resolving the frost in shoot problem .
Remove the top freezer door hinge cover , and disconnect the plug there . This removes any power , going to the door . If no plug there , remove the bottom kick plate , by removing the screw on each side in the front , and disconnect the receptical from the wires comming from the bottom of the freezer door .
Remove the dispensor control board , by prying , or pulling , from the bottom of the board . Disconnect the 3 plugs to the board . You should now see the white dispensor cover , being held on by 4 screws . Remove these screws , and slide the cover out .
In the top right , inside the dispensor area , you will see a solenoid with a plunger , with the door flap arc , inserted into the plunger . Usually rust inhibits the movement of the plunger , keeping the door flap from closing completely .
Remove the 3 screws holding the plunger and solenoid ( part number WR62X10055 ) and replace . Cleaning will not help , due to rust will return .

Ice crusher will not run

It is run by an auger motor that is energized by the switch when you press the lever with a cup on the door. Open the door and find the auger drive.....it is usually behind the ice bin. try to turn it by hand. You should be able to turn it....if not it is either frozen or locked up. A lot of times I just take them out and run hot water over them till they defrost. Another thing you did not mention is if the cubed is works. If the cubed ice works but not the crushed then the problem is the selector solenoid. There is a solenoid that switches from crushed to cubed. Usually you can see it next to the auger drive. It should freely move up and down....if not, it is frozen and needs to be thawed. The last thing it could be....but rule this out if the cubed ice is working.....the switch that is energized by the lever on the door could be bad. The auger motor and the selector solenoid are located in a white box behind the ice bin. Pull out your ice bin and you will see a box with the drive sticking out and the selector solenoid to the left. try to move the selector up and down with your finger......if it wont move or if it moves itself back up then it is probably frozen. If you look towards the bottom of that white box you will see 2 screws on each side of it, remove those and the box will come out and you can defrost it. You will have to take the icemaker with it on most of them. Just remove the screws and lift it out. Hope this helps

MAYTAG Ice control doesn't change from Cubed to Crush

If you prefer ONLY cubes , remove the ice bin and 1 or 2 screws hold the long rod attached to the bin . Without this rod , you'll only get cubes . With the bin removed , the square hole where the rod inserts in the rear freezer wall , you'll see a square , white , plastic "gate" . Asolenoid with a plunger , raises this gate for cubed ice and keeps it lowerer for crushed ice . Usually this "gate" plunger , rusts , thereby replaceing the solenoid and plunger would have to be done . Without the rod on the bin , the inner flap would open automatically , dispensing cubed ice .

I have an ice machine (Ice O Matic) Mod # EC1406HPB2 print # 9071919-01. that runs for approximately 10 mins, than compressor stops, I replaced start and run capicators, same problem. am thinking the Hi -...

You have to remove the bin to access the inner workings and the hi-temp safety is strapped to the suction line. You just look for two black wires disappearing into the line insulation to find it.

To remove the bin you: 1. Unplug the unit. 2. Take the top off and remove the sliding bin door, 3. Remove the front bottom louver, 4. Look straight back and disconnect the drain hose from the bottom of the bin, 5. In the louver opening look in the top corner and there will be a screw in each side going straight up into the bottom of the bin. Remove these two screws and lift the bin up and out.

If you are going to run the unit with the bin off you will have to cover the condenser area so that the air is forced over the condenser and be prepared to catch any ice that is produced.

GE Profile Ice flap is broken

The part number you need is WR62X10055 . This is the sokenoid and plunger which operates the flap . They tend to rust badly , keeping the flap from opening/closing . With a small screwdriver , pry the control panel ( from the bottom only ) outwards . This panel is the push buttons for crush , cube , water . Once removed , there are 4 screws , one on each corner of the white housing . Unplug the 3 plugs on the control panel first . Remove the 4 screws and slide out the housing . The solenoid and plunger are at the top right , held on by 3 screws . Replace solenoid AND plunger , and reassemble in reverse . Also , remove the top freezer door hinge cover to access the plug which should be unplugged first . After reassembling dispensor , dont forget to plug the plug back in .

Ice dispenser won't dispense whole ice cubes, only crushed

I found a temporary solution, I moved the bar so that the sliding door stays open and
stuck a piece of cardboard in it so it stays in the open position. I still need to get the
right tools to take the screws off on the side of the back panel because there is not
much room.

Only Crushed Ice

Solenoid behind the ice receiver gets iced up and prevents the baffle in the front of the receiver from changing between crushed and cube.

Remove the receiver and the receiver bracket (two screws on the bottom and lift up. Caution, the wiring must be unplugged!!!) Then thaw the solenoid and spray with teflon spray.

Re-assemble and try to switch between crush and cube.
