The light stop working and its not picking up from the head.

the power head usually has a reset button on it look for one and push it. If there isn't one, turn over the power head and then turn on the machine to see if the roller bar is spinning. If it is you can put your foot (with shoe on )against it gently and if it stops easily it needs a belt and if it isn't spinning at all it is in need of a replacement. Also be sure to check the electrical connections that go from the head up the hose and to the unit. This is where the unit gets its power for the power-head.Good luck!

The power head will not turn. I tried to reset by pushing the red reset button and nothing happened. I could not depress it.

If the button could not be depressed, it was most likely not tripped.
First, check to see that the drive belts are on the machine and have tension on the roller for the power head. Second, check to see that you can turn the brush on the power head by hand. If you can not, you need to remove it and clean it of any debris, paying special attention to the two end pieces that hold it in place. If possible, squirt a little WD40 on these end pieces to make sure they are loose and can be turned by hand. Check the connections that power the motor on the power head.
Let me know if you have any trouble and I will gladly help you further. I do not charge for my assistance.

The power head won't turn

In the upright position with the power off, press the reset button on the left side of the power head.

My rainbow vaccum will not turn on

If you have a power head with it, try the head as well. If the power head runs the problem is your motor , possibly carbon brushes, if the head will not start the issue is either your switch or the cord, inspect the plug end for signs of strain.

Meile s251i won't turn on

Hi If the power head isn't working it may be clogged. Try taking it apart to see if threads and general dirt has got in at the sides. Also without the power head if the Miele still isn't working then its a possibility that the on switch wiring is either loose or check the plug at the end of the power cord.

Power Head doesn't work

Are you talking about the large power head (ised for floors) or the smaller power head (for upholstery)?

If you are talking about the large one the first thing I would check is the belt (accessed by turning the tiny lock knob on the bottom with a flathead screwdriver).

If the belt looks ok the next thing I would check is make sure an accumulation of hair hasn't built up on the ends of the roller....take the roller out and turn the roller by hand holding onto one of the ends...it shoudl move freely....

Power head has power but motor won't run

Circuit brealer switch may be bad, but the fact that Rainbow nozzle made this strange sound makes me think that it may have happened because there is something wrong with the motor.

While unplugged - remove the brush and belt. Try turning brush ends - see if they yurn easily... Try turning the motor shaft - see if it turns and if it does - if it turns smoothly and if makes any strange sounds...

To really test the motor you can just bypass the circuit breaker switch.

Lack of Suction

There are actually several possibilities.

Check to make sure that the brushroll is spinning. The brushroll is responsible for virtually all of your pickup on carpet, and is the culprit for most complaints of "lack of suction."

If the brushroll is not spinning, listen at the head to see if the motor inside the power head is active. If you can hear it running but the brushroll is not turning, you have a broken belt. If the motor in the power head is not turning at all you may have an electrical short in the hose, the wands, or the main power outlet from the body of the canister; but before you get too involved check the power head for a thermal reset button. Some of the Electrolux powerheads are equipped with these, and some are not, so check your user's manual. If there isn't one, or if it isn't tripped, you'll need to look for electrical issues.

In this particular model it is fairly common for the electrical contacts on the wands to short out, so inspect the metal contacts to look for scorching, or melting of the plastic around them. If you have access to a VOM, check for voltage at the contacts on the end of the wand, and if it is not present, check all of the contacts sequentially back to the canister body to determine which part is not passing voltage. If you have voltage all the way through the wand, you either have a loose connection inside the power head, or the power head motor has burned out. If you have power from the canister body, but not through the end of the hose, either your hose has a short in it, or the circuit board in the handle assembly that controls the power head power has shorted out.

If your brushroll is turning, then you do, in fact, have a clog somewhere inside the power head, which a visual inspection behind the brushroll and into the elbow will confirm.

Best of luck,

-R
