Hello there and welcome to fixya:
Is there any way you can provide me with the model number of this unit so i can give you the best possiable solution.
I am fairly sure it is the FILL VALVE however i need the model number to ensure that i give you the proper testing and repair information ok

SOURCE: washer's warm setting alternately fills hot and cold

Call for wty svc- the temp switch is bad; they had many of these built like that Please contact me if you need further help or leave feedback if appropriate as that is how I get paid. Thanks for letting me help you!

Q - My washer will not fill with cold water
A - More often than not, this is a bad fill valve. Please see the filling section.
 There's no cold water Some washing machines allow cold water to enter only during certain cycles. Others intermittently allow hot and cold to enter, to temper the temperature of the water. Consult your owner's manual if you are unsure about whether the machine is acting abnormally.

If you're sure the machine is not working the way it used to--or should--check the following.

  • Is the cold water turned on? If not, turn it on.


  • Is the washer getting hot water but no cold water? If so, check to see if the control panel settings are correct.


  • Is there cold water coming through the proper hose? If not, check to see if the screen inside the water-inlet valve is clean. (The water-inlet valve is the device on the washing machine that the fill hoses are attached to.) If it's clean, you probably have a defective water-inlet valve. If so, you need to replace the valve.

Check for kinked or blocked
incoming water hoses, clean the incoming
water screens. If problem still remains,
replace the water inlet valve assembly

SOURCE: Fisher & Paykel Washine Machine is filling up hot and not cold?

As nice as these machines are, I've read bad things about Fisher & Paykel reliability. It sounds to me like you have a bad solenoid.

FYI, you should leave the water lines on (both hot and cold) all the time, no need to shut them off unless you're unhooking the machine to move it or work on it. The machine should control the temperature itself.

if in a warm wash and the hot tap is off that will cause it or if when cold wash is selected and no water goes in then a faulty cold water solenoid

Since U get warm water that tells you that the cold and hot water solenoids are both operating. Ergo the anomaly has to be with the device that controls temperature.

You MAY have a faulty cold valve (Not unusual) Or low water pressure. If the machine will fill ok on 'hot' but has a problem on 'cold' then you probably have a faulty 'cold' valve.
Do not change wires to 'hot' valve, as there is a difference..

This model like most new models are cold fill only.. It will heat to the temperature set by the variable thermostat setting..

If the hot coils quits, you will still have cold water fill, cold water only on a warm setting and no water on a hot fill setting. I have the washer on cold water, but it runs warm, stops, trickles, then comes out warm again, stops, trickles, then warm again ect.On the rinse cycle it will only trickle out.
