    1. Turn off the water at the shutoff valve, flush the toilet and hold down the handle. There may be a little water left in the bottom of the tank, but don't worry about it. Wipe the flapper seat with a clean cloth to make sure it's free of debris, and check it for cracks or splits (Image 1).

The toilet runs water for about 15 seconds at least once each hour during the day when not even in use, what needs to be adjusted or fixed?

Sounds like you have a leaky "flapper valve". The replacements are cheap and readily available at any home improvement store. Get the make of toilet, and take it with you. The valves are easy to replace and are pretty standard.

Internal leak

I am not familiar with this particular toilet, but most toilets that have a tank have this problem when the rubber flap stopper does not seal and allows water to trickle through.

this is the rubber stopper that lifts when you use the flush handle, the fix was to use the handle and allow all the water to flow out and use a soft rag and clean the area that the stopper seals to, and you will also want to clean the stopper of any gunk that may have accumulated on it.

Leaky toilet

The tank will unbolt and can be removed to replace this seal.

Better yet for about $130 you can have a 1.6 LF new in box and start saving water.

Hope this tip helps.
