You need some verification first. Testing remote control: The remote control puts out IR (InfraRed) signal that human eyes cannot see, to find out if the remote is sending out the signal or not you just point the remote at the digital camera's Lens (Digital Camera can detect IR), you should see flashing light on the camera's screen when any one of the remote button is pushed. If you do see the flashing on the camera, then the problem is in the TV IR receiver or the main logic board; more troubleshooting with scope will be needed to look at the signals. The remote control is an acess to the TV device for example only from a distance. A remote controll for functionality would require to insert batteries a power source making possible communiction with devices requiring reception transmittion of signals. The remote is handheld pointed to the direction of TV requiring signal before button pressed woudl achieve response. a common button to start the remote control experience is pressing on the power button, that displays a signal on the TV. The TV should momentarily produce a sound and lighting effect,, and displaying on the dark screen a light blue screen. The initial signal response from remote control to TV indicates devices are functioning as required. Additional buttons on the remote controll could perform functions of several available.
The remote control has master button, menu on which every additional function is deriveable. Once the menu button is pressed with remote pointed in the direction of TV, should dicplay a list of options on the blue screen already established by power button. Every additional remote control device functionality is achievable by only after the first two buttons have been powered and pressed to display option results on a screen of TV. The remote controll buttons remaining perform complementary functionalities. For example, the arrow keys on remote control make movement of the options displayed on the screen, where a comfrimation button or identified as select allows to confirm remote functions displayed on the screen. A remote control could have several functionalities only accessible once made to display in screen. The three most common buttons on a remote control are First power button that powers on the TV, menu button that displays a list of functionalities on the powered on bl;ank blue screen, and using the arrow buttons on the remote would moves an indicator arround the screen area options. The selection button makes confrimation of the option.
just bought a Topfield trf-2460 PVR and I have got everything working except the remote control (that came with pvr) sound funtion. I can record and playback with the audio working fine but even after setting the TF remote control to work on the TV funtion, it just doesn't like it, except for the mute button, that and the off function. Any suggestions would be appreciated. Joe
Gather up all the remote controls that you think are not
working and a digital camera.Turn the digital camera on, all you need to do is look at
is the digital screen while performing the process. No need for turning off all the lights (but may be
helpful in seeing the IR signal). Point the remote towards
the lens of the camera as you would when pointing the remote towards
the TV.Press and hold any
button on the remote while viewing the screen on the camera. Note:
some buttons may not transmit signals via default. Best button to try
first is the power button. While holding the button on the remote and viewing the
digital camera screen if you see a blueish light, that means the
infrared signal is working properly, there is a problem with the direct
connection (if its a universal remote, try setting it up, if its not,
you're probably not pointing it correctly).
It sounds like the key on the remote is stuck. In your case, if you see the flashing light on the camera screen without pushing any button, then for sure one of the button is stuck. Testing remote control: The remote control puts out IR (InfraRed) signal that human eyes cannot see, to find out if the remote is sending out the signal or not you just point the remote at the digital camera’s Lens (Digital Camera can detect IR), you should see flashing light on the camera’s screen when any one of the remote button is pushed. This may sound silly but does the remote have a funtion button or buttons at the top of the remote? It may be set to operate a DVD or VCR instead of the TV.
Failing that check the batteries, it is very rate that your TV will stop accepting IR signals.
