There is no card reader on most models of the Optiplex 780. There may be a card reader on the SFF unit. The MT, desktop and USFF do not include a card reader. You can add a 3.5" internal card reader to the MT or desktop models for under $20. You could use an external USB card reader with any Optiplex 780.
When you set up the system, you should have made at least 3 GMA's. Hopefully they did that and there are two other GMA's in a safe place. We keep ours locked up with the other key masters.
If you don't have any GMA's at all, you will have to call KABA. They will give you a reset code to reboot your FDU and then you can make new GMA's. You will have to remake all the other cards as well. It will be like starting over.
Then go to the rightmost column (TIPS) and hover your mouse over "PDFs", which will pop up a window with two choices: Changing the code, or How to reset a lost combination.
You will then be able to download a PDF file of your choosing for instructions.
If you don't already have Adobe Reader or another PDF reader program installed on your computer, there is a link at the top of the the grid chart to download Adobe Reader.
The Kaba Ilco 1000 lock does not use any sort of card reader for programming--it is strictly a push button lock.
From this link, which you can cut and paste into your web browser: http://www.kaba-ilco.com/access_control/products/eplex.aspx?id=6 you can search for your model of Kaba Ilco lock and click on the box with the picture of your lock. This will take you to the page for that particular lock. On the right side of any given page, you will see the heading "Documentation" an under that, a link that says "click here to visit the literature and support page". Following that link will lead you to a grid of the various lock models, with links to the manuals, etc. These will be PDF files and will require you to have Adobe Reader installed on your computer to view them. If you don't have Adobe Reader, : http://get.adobe.com/reader/
You will also find a "Contact Us" link on the first link I gave you, where you can contact Kaba Ilco directly for customer and technical assistance.
Hover your mouse over "PDF" under the "TIPS" column and the two choices of "Changing the Code/Combination" or "How to Reset a Lost or Unknown Combination" will appear--move your mouse over the appropriate one and click to download the info.
These are PDF files, requiring Adobe Reader to open. There is a link on the same page to download Adobe reader, if the file will not display for you.
Good luck--and please provide feedback if this helps!
Kaba Ilco has a FAQ document on resetting the code here. If you need more detailed information, your user manual is here.
I'd highly recommend looking at the FAQ. Basically you're going to have to open the unit up, reset the gears so all the slots are lined up facing you, then put the unit back together.
Once you've got everything back together, you turn the outside lever to the stop position, release it, and enter the new combination. Turn the outside lever tot he stop position again, and you're done.
