The easy way is through a USB cable attached to a computer running Motorola Phone Tools (MPT), while MPT isn't free, there is a shareware version
HERE that might work for what you need. Also depending on what service you have, your carrier might be able to do a "Backup" of your contacts via remote transfer, which could work well when you can't see your screen.
Another, free option is
BitPim (scroll down to find it) , which is a bit different to use, but still very easy for copying contact information to your computer. I'd try this first because it is free and almost as easy as MPT. You might have some trouble connecting to your phone if you have a Verizon phone, but you should be able to quite easily retrieve the data.
Replacing the screens isn't too difficult and could save you $ if you can find a good screen on eBay. Or you could get yourself a new phone!!
