Samsung BD-P1500 Blu-Ray Player Logo

My BD-P1500 will not recognise a new non-blu-ray disc.

Samsung support stated I should wait for a new firmware update (about a month) I currently have FW version 2.4.

Any unnoficial FW updates out there?

I just re-loaded FW version 2.4 (freshly downloaded) and the problem went away.

Not sure if the original was corrupted or if there was an un-announced change to version 2.4.

The filename I downloaded was "090416_01_BDP1500_XAA.RUF" - for update via USB.

I fixed this by downloading a firmware update from the Samsung support website. I recommend using the "USB" method as it is less prone to other problems. There are instructions for up-loading to your BluRay player on the website, but basically you plug in the USB stick with the right file on it, turn on the machine (and your TV) and it takes care of itself. Good luck!

If its not a Blu-Ray disc, it wont have new technology that the Blu-Ray does not have installed so its unlikely a firmware update wil fix this as its generally for new Blu-Rays.

Does the disc playback in another player?

Is it the correct region code?

Do all other DVD-Video play ok?

Here is a video instruction on how to hook up the P1600 model to Net Flix.

A firmware update may be required to get NetFlix on the P1500 model.

Otherwise, I have seen little information on the P1500 supporting NetFlix.

Unable to play new SALT film blue-ray on my BD-P1500 and can not seem to fix it

The player needs a firmware update. Your issue is a direct result of this. Go to the Samsung website to access the appropriate download or simply connect your player to your modem with an ethernet cable (TV needs to remain connected to player for menu navigation) and update firmware.

This will solve your problem!

Hope I helped!

LOSES HDMI VIDEO- DIGITAL AUDIO REMAINS

went to samsung web site and aquired firmware update for a thumbdrive install [USB on back of BD-P1500] This seemed to work and part of the update from previous early firmware versions was to "improve the ability to properly display all DVD types"

Blue ray quit recognizing non BR disc

The non-blu-ray laser lens needs cleaning.

Try not to use a blast of compressed air.

Radio Shack has a lens cleaner ($13). it is an audio CD with a row of brushes on it.
Read & follow the directions.

Samsung BD-P1500 Plays Blu Ray but not DVD's

Nope. The laser mechanism seems to have developed a preference of its won and refuses to work with DVD media.
You have already done a firmware update so that is ng. Could be that when you updated it to play newer blue rays, the update messed up unit for dvd playback. Happens.

But do not sweat - that unit has a one year warranty - use it.

Firmware download for MAC

hey same problem here, but I just downloaded the CD version anyways... then dropped the .RUF file onto my desktop, selected it, burnt it to a CD-R (RW will also work) and popped it into the BD-P1500, so far it seems to be running along steadily in the update process... hope this solves your problem.
