Anyone know how I can find a replaceable door handle for a Whirlpool Gold microwave, model # GH7155XHS1. It's apparently discontinued and there's no trace of if it anywhere.

Is there a replaceable handle for this oven? Is there a hidden distributor that might have it?

SOURCE: kitchenaid model KHHS179LSS Microwave oven handle replacement

There is a pin holding the door on upper right hand corner of the door. Holding the door in the open position, lift up on the door a little and remove the pin. The door will come off. There are two screws on the edges of the door on the end where the handle is located. Remove the screws. Now, Take a slim screw driver, and carefully pry between the inside door panel and the ourside door panel starting at the end where the door handle is. Lift the inside of the door out. The opposite end of the inside door panel will come out last. Believe me, this works. Getting it back together is a little bit different, but it snaps back together without using tools. Just put the inside of the door back by laying it down with the handle side down after you have replaced the handle of course. Now, pushing in on the inside of the door panel starting on the handle side, start with lining up the panel and push gently. It will go back into place much much easier than it comes out.

SOURCE: GE spacemake microwave handle door

Apparently the part number for the black handle is WB15X10020 and the white one is WB15X335.

You can order either and find find helpful exploded view diagrams here.

Enter the part number to order the part, and enter your model number to find the exploded views.

Normally you have to separate the door panels (as shown in the attached photo) and then you'll see the previously hidden screws you need to remove.

Or you can watch a YouTube video (not a video I made) here that demonstrates how it's done.

SOURCE: Change Fuse Whirlpool Gold GH7155XHS1

no the control does not come off from behind.

what you will find is the top vent grill has to come off first. it has 2 phillips screws that hold it to the top of your unit.
you will find 4 screws on the top, go ahead and take all 4 out and then pull the grill out from the top and hinge outward to remove/ once the grill is off, then there is 1 more phillips screw that holds the control board/ touch panel to the frame. remove and then lift up then out on the panel.
now that you are into the unit, make sure you have UNPLUGGED it first. the fuse is about 1 1/4 inch long white ceramic material with metal ends. you can find a new one at a radio shack or get one online for your unit. r/s has them for cheap and if that allows the unit to run again, great, but...
there was something that caused the fuse to go bad. so dont be surprised if you need a diode or capacitor to fix why the fuse went bad.

How to replace door handle on whirlpool microwave model MH2155XPS-0

The door handle can easily be replaced on MOST microwave ovens by removing the inner door panel that goes around the perimeter of the glass. The following link explains how to access and replace the door handle:

http://www.fixya.com/support/r3696942-microwave_oven_door_handle_replacement

The average cost for a replacement handle (if required) usually runs about $20 - $40. Replacements may be purchased at the websites listed in the link I provided. Several of these sites also have helpful exploded view parts illustrations to assist you with parts identification and how disasemble/reassemble your appliance. A replacement part number for the model you have listed is 8169738.

The door handle is a simple repair that can be done with the door in place, or with the door removed. You do not have to uninstall the oven if this is an over the range model.

NOTE: If you wish to remove the door, all you need to do on most models is open the door all the way and lift straight up at the hinges. You may have to remove the grille cover located above the door on some models to accommodate being able to lift the door.

If you have any questions, please post back and let me know. I hope this helps you.

DOOR ISSUES?

not sure how technically inclined you are and whether you like taking things apart. it's either the door has become slightly warped or the hinge is abit loose or the safety switch needs adjustment. if it's the switch i'm not sure that can be adjusted from outside the machine.
