Sometimes, the movie video suddenly gets muted during the playback and some prompt-up message shows on your screen, like "Audio outputs temporarily muted". Actually, this is caused by Cinavia Message Code 3.
The digital content is also protected by Cinavia protection in both audio and video content. When you receive Cinavia Message Code 3, then it means that the audio track of your Blu-ray or DVD content contains Cinavia code. Without removing the Cinavia Message Code 3, you are not allowed to play or copy the digital content as you like. Usually, when Cinavia Message Code 3 appears, you can see the following message on your screen: "Audio outputs temporarily muted. Do not adjust the playback volume. The playing content is protected on this device.
Leawo Blu-ray Cinavia Removal is a program that can be able to remove the Cinavia protection with ease. With this protection removing tool, you can easily get a 1:1 Cinavia-free Blu-ray copy.

No sound when disc is in DVD player. Only picture.

The sound board is out in the dvd player. Try another source, such as cable, and/or a gaming system if the tv gets sound it is for sure the sound board on the dvd player. Always check to make sure the dvd player doesn't have a mute option.

Unable to get sound for movie using windows media player

Some players may only show the video but no sound.
Is this a DVD?
WMA?
There are free players that may work for the specific file type
on download.com.
However you may only need to un-mute your volume.
You may need to raise the volume on your master volume.
But if you are sure of there being no sound.
Its easier to just get a player designed for DVD, AVI, FLV formats etc.

Emerson dvd player - background sound lauder than dialogue

Greetings surfjax,

If you will allow me to make an assumption, you do not have a 5.1 surround system connected to your DVD player. This is a common experience with users of a standard TV or stereo receiver if a movie is being presented in 5.1.

In a surround sound system the center channel speaker provides almost all the vocal tracks while the side channels will provide music and some background noises. You'll still be able to hear the voices in your side speakers, but it will be muted and over powered by music or sound effects.

Some DVD players allow you to "Downmix" the surround signal to stereo. You might want to look around your sound setup on the DVD player or check your owners manual.

Hope this helps.
