The blade is wobbling on my Fleetwood meat slicer EF12 Slices look like waves.

The hub, the bearings and shaft are new, the blade is also straight. I guess the wobbling comes from bearings, because there's minimal loose between the bearing races. I tried different bearing and still nothing. Does anyone have the same problem?

Check that the problem is not from the way the blade is mounted on the shaft
any thing between the blade and the backing hub of the shaft will make the blade wobble so check for burrs , bad fitting parts or the like at the blade center
new bearings , shaft and hub are new but is the hub on the shaft straight

Testimonial: "Hi, all parts are new and clean, shaft also new, the wobbling comes from bearing races. There's minimal loose between the races on the bearing ball. When you attached 12" then you can really feel it."

ball bearing units will have a slight clearance as it is necessary for lubrication and expansion during installation of the bearing on the shaft
check that the bearings are ball bearings and not supposed to be thrust ball bearings as these can be adjusted by shims on the spacer to eliminate any axial/tangential movement to keep the blade running true
was the problem evident before the repair or only after the repair. if you still have the old bearings are the numbers etched on the sides the same as the new bearings
regardless of the manufacturer, the numbers should be the same as that is the code for the bearing dimensions so that any bearing matching that number can be fitted from any manufacturer

How to take off knife shaft to replace noisy bearings, on a HOBART MEAT SLICER MODEL# 2712 AUTOMATIC.

All you have to do is work out the way the shaft normally turns. It you had a spanner on the nut, would the rotation of the blade tighten the nut down? The answer then it to turn the nut the other way.

You can try both ways, you aren't going to hurt it.

The blade on my meat slicer is making a horrible noise and the blade stops when I try to slice any meat

Sounds like the shaft bearing has gone bad. If you can access or dismantle the blade shaft from the motor housing, (NOTE: unit must be unplugged first, ie NOT connected to any power supply) you can try to lubricate the shaft/bearing with a silicone grease. Odds are this will not solve your problem for long.
If it is an expensive unit, and you do not want to discard your investment, try finding a kitchen appliance repair centre for a more permanent solution.

Need schematics on magic hostess meat slices model mh7e, I think I'm missing a barring behind the blade gear.

The Magic Hostess slicers are the same as Rival 1101 series slicers. What you probably are missing is a friction reducing washer that mounts between the blade and blade head (housing). I offer reproductions of this part, photo attached; these reproduction washers are a different color but functionally equivalent to original. If interested, contact me at [email protected]

The photo I uploaded doesn't show up for some reason. To see photo of blade washer and usage, see https://flic.kr/s/aHsjuXYKep

Slicer 827a roaring noise

This can be due to the motor bearings/bushes that have worn out and is slightly having the gap within,
When the load comes on the motor must be firmly moving on the main shaft without a fraction of a gap.
To confirm use some light oil into the motor shaft where the bearing/bushes are and try out. If so you might have replace them to fit well , get help from a machine tool shop.
If the mtor seems perfectly alright then the mechanism of the cutting blades, the moving parts here- one of them - can be the suspect. Take carre to check when the power is on.

Guard

I'm not certain this is the same model I'm thinking of, but I think there may be a knob on the back side (behind the blade) which clamps down on a shaft coming off the blade guard. Loosen the know and the guard should pull straight off. Maybe I'm thinking of a different model slicer, but the photo looks correct.

Globe Meat Slicer Model # 500 motor runs blade not turning

Fiber gear on blade hub stripped. deep socket required to remove hub. DON'T CUT YOURSELF!! remove motor, used food safe solvent to clean grease out of housing. Fiber gear held on with snap ring. Replace gear, repack housing, put hub and motor back and start slicing. Routinely check to make sure gear is lubed.

Globe commercial Meat slicer

Hi, I have working on meat slicer my whole life and can help you.

What normally happens is this. The bearings in the knife hub (this is the unit that the knife attaches to and spins) is starting to fail.

The gear on the knife hub is made out of a fiberous material and the worm gear on the motor is made out of metal, so when the bearings start to fail and cause resitance in the hub, the metal motor gear starts to eat the fiber gear on the hub and eventually wears a big chuck out of it. Then the motor spins free and doesn't make contact with the hub gear.

How you can check if this is the problem is this. You need to keep the power switch on machine in the off position and turn the blade a 1/4 of a revolution. Then turn the machine on, what should happen is that the blade will spin some and stop again.

The proper fix for the machine would be to rebuilt the knife bearing unit and replace the hub gear, motor gear and hardware.

In regards to the Chefmate. This is a design flaw of Globe and I told them about this when the machine first came out! The know is on a steel shaft that goes thru the aluminum body. The steel shaft starts to corode and also rust, then it freeze in the frame. What has to be done is this. This assembly needs to taken about sanded, lubed and put back together. The best way to permently fix this is have a machine shop machine the frame out and install a Oilite Bushing, these are impregnated with oil and it will never lock up again.

Where are you located? Let me know if I can answer any other questions for you.

If you have any other questions, you can call me on my cell 201-274-6274 or e-mail me at [email protected]. Thank you
