My tv powers on displays the LG logo then makes a high pitched squeal sound from speakers and then flashes on screen (strobe light effect) does not display picture or sound.

Sound and manufacturers logo show on tv screen when powered up however no picture.
The inverter may have gone out. If the display is momentary such as for the logo, the inverter cannot hold the high voltage to sustain for the back-light. Shine a flash light on the screen and see if you can detect any images. If you can, then the back-light inverter is bad.

FLICKERING BACK LIGHT
Sounds like you have an LCD tv with backlight problems. Check power board for domed capacitors and replace them. next check connections on the inverter boards. they are on the sides or just one side. Becareful there is high voltage output from these boards. If the cable from inverter board is not good to the screen you can get a strobing. the inverter boards may need replaced. or cales to screen may be bad. The panel also could be bad.

Hello, This sounds as if it could be a switching power supply problem or a ballast problem. Both will effect your power supply and cause malfunction in various subsystems (audio, screen control, control systems, and the like). I would suggest having a qualified TV repair technician look at the set. This is because there are no user servicable parts associated with this type of problem.
