Question about Samsung RF267AEWP - 26 cu. ft. French Door Refrigerator - White

1 Answer

Our fridge compressor won't run after a power outage, can it be reset?

Earlier today we had a brief (1 minute) power outage and when power was restored our Samsung fridge front panel displayed "88 88" with the last digit blinking as from "8" to "6". After unplugging the fridge for about 10 minutes per the manual, we replugged in and the display was the same but then reset some minutes after. However, now the compressor won't run. Could swear the compressor was running after the power outage. Any ideas?

Compressors use a small start / run capacitor to start the compressor
modern fridges do not like spikes from power outages and many power boards and electronic components fail because of this and I am inclined top use a surge protector before the fridge cord plug
I went google and typed in --fault code 88-88 for samsung fridge model rf26aewp and the first site up is error codes /messages/ blinking
the site is support-us.samsung>popup>iframe
there is a detailed answer there with a list of fault codes as well and what they indicate
there are other sites that also refer to the fault that you have

Very helpful thank you. Strangely, though, the display is now displaying the "0F 0F" that is indicative of it being in demo mode. But I can't find the instructions for getting it OUT of ego mode. The link on the samsung website will not work. Grrrrr. I'm beginning to loathe samsung given all of the complaints out there. Do you know how to get this thing out of demo mode.

yes , I tried the link and it didn't work for me either
however not to be out done I changed the google search to-- removing demo mode for samsung fridge model rf26aew-- and got a heap of site including youtube with explanations
also if you went right to the bottom of that page I suggested, there is a live chat section that may work
I never went there as you have all the questions
give that a go as well

Thanks again for the ideas! As it turned out, I was successful in resetting the fridge! Somehow, the power outage must have confused the system's memory and the display/control center would not acknowledge inputs. However, it required me to unplug the unit several times at longer and longer intervals (from a few minutes up to over 30 minutes) until finally I was able to get the unit to disable "demo" mode. After that the compressor came back on! It seems the power outage kicked the fridge into demo mode from the start. Anyway, I think I will take the advice and put this fridge on a surge suppressor.

this is the control board you will need for your model if unplugging the unit for 5 minutes doesn't fix the problem. If they are LED lights, then I point my finger at this. This is a plug and play board with molex connectors. Very easy to install with unit unplugged. You can manually reset the display and check for error codes by holding the top left and top right button on your user interface for 5 seconds in unison FOR 5 or more seconds after all the lights flash.

After a power outage my Samsung SRS580DHLS is displaying and flashing SE? What does this code mean and how do I fix it? Rirht now the control panel only displays SE and does not respond to any presses

Your control board is reacting to a surge in power. Unplug the unit for 5 minutes then replug and follow normal starting procedures. If that does not work think about buying a new unit.

How do you get compressor running after power outage?

Hello AnnArborMom, thank you for your inquiry!

I would recommend you adjusting the temperature to a lower setting to see if that would start your compressor to cool. If that is not successful I would contact a professional to come and properly diagnose your appliance. It could be that the power outage shorted the main control board or relay. I hope this is helpful. -Matt

Power outage and fridge doesnt come back on when power is restored

First make sure there is power to the plug at the wall. If not check the breaker. If power at the plug, the power outage could have been associated with a power surge that killed your refrig.

After power outage, no power at all to kenmore

Check the breaker at the panel, it could be that you have more than just your fridge on the same circuit and the breaker blew or fuse when the power came on. You should only have the fridge on a circuit, the same goes for a freezer and microwave and water pump and sump pump. Nothing else on those circuits. One appliance only.

Fridge is not level - it is higher at the front than at the back.

We had the same problem when our was delivered last week. I spoke to Samsung customer services.

They said the roller in the middle of the front is not meant to be there permanently. It is just a transport roller and should be removed once your fridge freezer is in place.

To remove it:-

- unscrew the two white plastic feet at either side of the front until they touch the floor.

- then place a flat end screwdriver in the slots in the feet and continue to unscrew them. They will start to lift the front of the firdge -freezer up until the front roller no longer touches the floor.

-keep doing this (a little bit each side at a time so the fridge -freezer stays level) until the roller is about 15mm off the floor.

- then get a small flat spanner and remove the two small bolts on the metal plate that holds the roller to the bottom of the fridge-freezer.

Once these bolts are removed the roller and plate will drop to the floor and can be removed.

Then using the screwdriver, screw the feet back in until the point when the front of the fridge-freezer is level with the back.

The whole process shouldn't take you longer than 15 minutes.

I asked Samsung why this isn't included in their instruction manual and they couldn't give me an answer which I thought was poor.

I do wonder how many Samsung RSH1 fridge-freezers are out there with the front roller still attached!!!
