What glues can be used for the lid?

- Some glues say for most plastics but not certain ones? - What plastic is used for the lid? - The lid broke at a join edge. - Some glues say not for immersion in water. Some not for soap & water. Some say soap & water for take off glue from fingers so ok or not after drying? - Some glues say ingredient may cause cancer. == Given above, need to know which plastic used, which glues work, which work with w/o chemical hazard since food & water may touch the part of the lid, which could be used with soap & water.

Use superglue gel. The lid is polycarbonate plastic. It isn't supposed to crack but it will over time.

Had looked at some glues: Krazy glue & Super Glue both label not for polyethelene & polypopolene (spelling?). So it is polycarbonate which is much different? SuperGlue brand said not for immersion in water - so quick cleaning ok - but other instant glue brands don't warn that. Gel better than regular version?

Quick guide to plastics. Polythene is what plastic bags are made from, thin and stretchy. Polypropylene is what your flexible plastic bucket is made of, stiffer but flexible. Polycarbonate is a hard plastic that if thick enough is bullet resistant. At thinner gauges it is tough and if dropped will bounce. When it gets older it becomes brittle and develops faults like you have found. I am a trade chef and have lost count of the number of processor lids that have failed. I prefer Supergle GEL because I find it sticks to the surface instead of running off, you can see where it is and it works so well. The way it works is to melt and fuse the two edges together. If it fails at a later date, let me know and I will see it I can find you a replacement bowl and lid.

Thanks. Sounds good but worry about the back of the package of the SuperGlue brand about not for immersion in water. There are other instant glue brands such as Krazy glue and general ones saying a super glue - these do not warn/state this. How about these? these if have gel version?

SOURCE: Braun multipractic food processor model 4259..

The disc carrier you're looking for is Part No 7002058 (the number may be stamped somewhere on the holder itself). It's like a circular/figure 8 kinda looking thing on a shaft. If you're in Australia I'll be able to help get spares.

Don't recommend using glue to repair due to stress breaking it again, and for food safety issues.

The lid of my EP91 quad blade is broken

Hi Rosa

Depending on the severity of the broken lid....

I fix a lot of plastic items with either super glue or 2 part epoxy resin.
Then for reinforcement at the edges. I take a 2cm (aprox) piece of thin wire. Like a staple. Then heat it with the soldering iron. sliding back and forth until the wire is embedded into the plastic. even slightly covered over.
This often makes a cracked piece of plastic quite strong.
It may not look great but it might hold you over till you find a replacement
Good Luck

There is a small plastic piece on the lids 1-196 that slides into a slot in theback of the processer and is s safety interlock. unless your new lid will fit into that it will nto work. I know because i bought the wrong lid after the exact plastic piece broke on my original and I could not get the new one to work... right now my "work around" is to put both lids on.. the newer one does have the piece but its it the wrong place and I have to hold them while I use the processor.. sorry

Food processor lid interlock tab broke off

Unfortunately, you can't glue it back on with any amount of long term success. Your best solution is to look for a new lid on Ebay or you can buy parts at GourmetDepot.com. They have the widest selection.

Good luck!
