Not the fuse. does nothing when i hit start button... had a beaded shirt caught in the door but cannot see anything blocking connection.. tool apart everything cleaned out everything nothing looks burnt lint in lmachine doesnt smell burnt... the relay to start may be a little wierd but now i may just be thinking things...
Check the door switch actuator (the piece sticking down that the door actuates when closing . Could have broken off . If there , and you hear a click , then thermal fus (white piece with 2 wires attached ) could be problem . Disconnect power and put the 2 wires togather. Reconnect power and see if dryer starts . I have never had to replace a push-to-start switch .
Whirlpool dryers use a plastic thermal fuse mounted on the vent chute on the rear of the dryer (access it with cover removed). In the gas dryer, if the fuse opens it stops ignition. On the electric dryer, it stops the unit from turning on, Test this by by-passing the fuse-stat.

i pushes in and light turns off and on there are three wires that go to the relay on the door... my thoughts are that if the relay on door was broken the light wouldnt come on but as i cannot come up with another option im not sure and as i am new to fixing thing ( my father thought it was a mans job...lol) i am not sure how to get the wires out of the plastic to try to connect them and see if it does anything... is there a special tool or i should just yank it hard...btw thanks in advance for any help
got a new dryer thanks for the two people who tried to help
Did you check the safety switch on the door? The switch must be pushed in for the dryer to work.
