Hi Anonymous.

You can find the manual here
http://kitchen.manualsonline.com/manuals/mfg/hamilton_beach/40996.html and it echoes most of what I'd have to say. You've checked power getting to the kettle (I'm assuming this means that the base unit has displays coming on, etc). After that.....

  1. Heating element could be out, though that seems unlikely - most commercial elements are pretty robust. As with a lot of consumer goods these days, you'd be dodgy about whether a replacement part could be ordered.
  2. There is mention in the instructions about safeguards for if the kettle boils dry. If it happened recently , the auto-shutoff might still be engaged. It might need unplugging, a longer time to cool, or perhaps being filled with chilled water and left to sit and cool things with the water.
  3. There is also mention that if the system needs to be de-scaled, the restricted water flow can lead to the boil-dry sensor being tripped. You might want to try de-scaling the system.
Hoping this helps!

My Breville water kettle stopped heating water. This is my second teakettle to do this. We have had this second kettle for about 2 years. We always were careful to make sure the kettle is off before

Unless you can take it apart and repair it yourself, it probably isn't worth the cost to have it repaired. There are several websites that sell parts, but you really have to be familiar with electrical circuits to diagnose it. Possibilities are:
1. It could be the thermostatic switch that turns it off as it reaches temperature. These are little devices with two wires connected and are in the base of the unit. these normally reset themselves but can stop working, especially if they have gotten wet.

2. It could be the cord to the unit with a wire broken at the base or the plug end.
3. It could be a thermal fuse; these are about 1/4 inch in diameter and may be hidden in an insulating sleeve near the element; they are sensitive to both heat and current.

3. It could be the element is burned out.

My electric kettle is starting to break.

It sound like the temperature sensor that switches the kettle off when it has reached the correct temperature is faulty. It would probably be cheeper to replace than repair

My Breville kettle does not beep anymore when the desired temperature has been reached.

Might not work, so don't cuss me if it doesn't, but have you tried demineralizing it? Pour it full of white vinegar, let it heat to about 160-180 and then turn it off and let it soak for a couple of hours. The vinegar will dissolve any mineral deposits on or in the heating system. Mineral deposits are the bain of electric water heating systems of all types. Drip coffee makers, 95% of the time, a premature ***** is due to mineral deposits. It also destroys house hot water heaters.

Why does the water boiled in this kettle smell and taste chemically? Any boiled in a plastic kettle in my home is fine.

hello,

the chemical taste of smell from your kettle means that the element in the kettle which provide heat to boiled the water has gone bad due to over heating

this occur when there is shortage of water level in the kettle when the power supply is on

to fix up this problem of smell and chemical taste in your boiled water you will have to make a change of the element (heater)because it has gone bad you can get a replacement of it in the store .

thank you and thanks for using fixya.

MG32 Cordless Electric Kettle: Power light shows on my kettle but water does not...

sounds like there's water in the element. Empty it out and let it dry out completely for a few days, and then try it again.
If the element is a concealed element (ie- you can't see the coils when you open the lid up) then there's probably a water leak into the sealed compartment.
Contact the manufacturer for a recommended repairer.

How do I clean

Fill kettle until 3/4 full with 1 part vinegar and 2 parts water. Boil and allow to stand overnight.

Empty solution from kettle. Fill the kettle with clean water, bring to boil and discard water. Repeat and the kettle will be ready for use.

Or you can use a proprietary kettle descaler, which is available at most hardware stores.

Can kettle be cleaned and continue to be used.

I use a solution of vinegar and water (1:1) and boil it in the kettle, to remove mineral deposits from the metal heating surface (We do the same with the percolating coffee maker and run it through several times)... It seems to take any residual tastes out of the unit and possibly also cleans the plastic parts that it touches (I believe it does).
By the way... WHO thought it was a good idea to heat apple cider in an electric kettle. Sorry but WOW
