Gas dryer not maintaining heat. The dryer heats at the start (after rest), and maintains the heat for about 15 minutes. After that, the dryer continues to tumble, but the dial (i.e. control timer knob) never moves if Auto Dry is chosen (the knob does move in Timed Dry.) I did remove the front panel plug & can see the heating elements glowing intermittently after 15 minutes, but there is no flame. The light cycles on & off once (not sure if that's right?) I don't know where the fuse is(even with the repair parts list I can't make it out), but if it heating at all, does that mean the fuse is OK? 70 Series Kenmore/Whirlpool 76722695

The problem is with the 2 little circular black coils next to the ignitor. They need to energize before the gas valve can open. They tend to get weak over time. I am 100% sure this is your problem. Good luck :)

Hi,

If you are having problems with your gas dryer not heating the most common problem is that the ignitor goes bad. Even though it glows sometimes it is still not working properly.

if you dryer is gas check out this gas no heat tip....

If you have an electric dryer, you can have many different things that can go wrong causing the dryer not to heat.

Dryer heats to proper drying temperature and then temperature is not maintained and drops off causing long drying time when on timed drying...GE Medallion 850 - bottom heat sensor was cleaned.

you didn't mention if dryer was gas or electric. gas dryer could have bad valve coils which will work for a short time and then fail, cool off and then work again and fail, causing intermittant heat.

Gas Dryer. Heat for only one burn cycle.

Try vacuuming out the intake and exhaust of the burner to remove any lint or other debris. If no help, the main burner may need to be replaced.

Gas dryer not maintaining heat. 70 Series Kenmore/Whirlpool 76722

Fuse is ok . Problem is the soils on the burner valve . If the dryer heats when started , the electricity goes thru the coils to open the valve . Once the coils get warm , 1 will open (short) until it cools back down . The coils can be replaced just by removing the front panel . Only 2 screws hold the coils in place . No turning off gas , dissasembling dryer .

Kenmore gas dryer starts to heat but does not maintain the heat. It cools down after a few minutes.

Something simple for you to try is: remove the duct from the dryer, run a cycle,IF the unit works fine, you will need to have your vent system cleaned to the outside. If you still have troubles, you will need to place a service call to have the unit diagnosed
