Calculator works in non-print mode but prints gibberish when attempting to print on tape. Is there a keying sequence that resets it to normal printing?

Short answer is no. These are low end calculaotors and parts are hard to obtain. These calculators are cheap and basically disposable. It is cost prohibitive to replace the printer in them.
Sorry.

I installed batteries and it started working correctly. I then plugged in the AC cord, with the batteries still in, and it still was working correctly.

SOURCE: printing problem

Try resetting the calculator. There should be a reset button on the underside of the machine. Press it with a pen and that should clear the E that is on your display.

SOURCE: loading paper tape

Well, I just had a long and vigerous fight withmy new HR-8TM. I came here and read all the before mentioned solutions. Then the idear struck me. Instead of cutting the paper even all the way across the roll, I cut it slanted on the sides and straight across the middle " __ " and guess what it passed the roller feed through.

Where is the backspace key on the Casio printing calculator HR-100tm?

If you just want to delete the last entry you put in, push the red "C" button on bottom row. It will remove that last entry you made.

Where can I find a user guide or manual for the Casio HR-100TM calculator?

Couldn't find a manual or user guide. The closest I got were two pages, one with the calculator, and one with the group of calculators that explains some of the functions.

If you have a specific questions, please ask.

Good luck,

How do I get a Casio HR-100TM to print when using batteries? It displays an "e" on the display. It will print when using the adaptor.

It's telling you at least one of the batteries is too weak to print. That's also possibly a power saving feature.
