Buy only quality brand gas like Shell and add a bottle of fuel injector cleaner during your fill up, after 1-2 tanks if the problem persists then you can eliminate a problem with the gas or dirty fuel injectors. At this point you should have replaced the air filter and done 2-3 oil changes, sounds like the battery and starter are fine. Track what you put in the tank and then go back to complain if you still have a problem.

SOURCE: 02 sedona hard time starting and mass airflow sensor issues

Hi,

Appreciate the direct "Ask Me".

Hard starting could be caused by a number of faults such as weak battery corroded/loose battery terminals, fuel delivery issues and others which may include as you posted the MAF sensor. In my country however, most Kias have a peculiarity. They like to be well warmed up (even if it is hot here). Hard starting specially after short hops/trips is actually the ECU/ECM/Control Module or the car's computer getting mixed sensory inputs. The corrective action is to warm up the car fully before using. In some instances, it may also be required to reset the computer by removing the negative battery terminal for a few minutes. Pls bear in mind that some alarms are triggered this way and/or some car stereos would require a security code if the battery is removed.

Hope this be of initial help/idea. Pls post back how things turned up or should you need additional information.

Good luck and kind regards. Thank you for using FixYa.

SOURCE: my kia sedona wont start just click when turned on

Couple of things to try.

1. Check that the battery connections are both clean and tight on the battery.
2. Check water level in the battery is above the plates that you can see in the filler holes.
Caution:
(Handle the battery with care as the water in the battery has been charged and becone sulphuric acid which will burn your skin. Do not get this in your eyes.)

3. Turn the headlights on then start the vehicle, and if:
a) the lights dim the battery is not connecting properly or faulty, or:
b) the lights stay on full it would the starter motor relay or solenoid (part of the starter motor).

In order to start an engine needs compression, timing, the right amount of fuel delivered into the combustion chamber, a spark sufficient for combustion and a good cranking speed.

There isn't a way for anyone here to guess which of those requirements are absent and only checking the car when it doesn't start will reveal the fault. These days most cars are fitted with an immobiliser and part of the checking will be to ensure any immobiliser is fully disarmed.

My 06 sedona wont start just a clicking noise, radio and lights work. Just got a new battery for it and nothing changed. Is there a fuse/relay problem or probably the starter?

Try jumpstarting it. My 06 has done that a few times and jumpstarting has worked every time. Usually, one of the kids left a dome light on or something.

My 1972 911 wont start

Not a Porshe specialist, just a superbike engineer......my brother has an '87 911 that has had similar problems.
On his it was down partly to the aftermarket alarm/immobiliser system and also the main fuseboard.

IMMOBILISER/ALARM SYSTEM
This was fitted (very badly) under the bonnet space carpet......the car had been parked up for a while and the control/relay modules were half full of water.
Unplug them, open the casings up carefully and blow the water out.
Rinse circuit boards in distilled water and then blow out with Contact cleaner (Trichloroethylene aerosol)
VERY carefully scrape any corrosion bridgeing tracks or component pins away then rinse again with Trichloroethylene.
If there are any mechanical relays in your system carefully remove plastic covers and clean points contact faces with paper and Trichloroethylene......DON'T go scraping the relay coils or cleaning contacts with abrasives (they're coated with platinum to prevent oxidation when they arc) .
Be really careful when you're handling the boards....The build quality isn't great on some of them!
Of course, if the underbonnet space on yours is dry/clean and the immobiliser modules are not wet then this will be of no use at all !!

THE OTHER BITS
Could also be ignition coil pack failure or ECU component failure......BUT.....First....

Check main ignition power supply relay FIRST and then take time to clean any corrosion from main fuseboard/relayboard terminals on inner wing inside bonnet area as this seems to be prone to general ageing. Take EVERY fuse and relay out, one at a time so you don't get confused with where they go back and clean all terminals with fine screwdriver/needle file/fine wet and dry paper....rinse with Trichloroetylene spray
When you've done it I'd give the general area a light spray with something like DuckOil or GT40 aerosol to help keep corrosion at bay in future

Good luck with this.....It'll take a bit of time to do it all but chances are it's not the ECU or Coils. Get the simple stuff pristine first, before you start chucking expensive bits at the problem.
9 out of 10 times it's the answer!!
Cheers. Rob.
