Go to google play, search Facebook and redownload it

Search for their name in the top bar, click on their profile, and then hit "Send friend request" :)

Most likely you have not logged into the Facebook account you were using. Perhaps you accidentally created a new Facebook account. All of your friends and photos are stored on the Facebook server so reinstalling the Facebook app on your phone will not affect these. Be sure to login via the email address you used when you setup your Facebook account.
