Can i set the printer to print black only

Hi ethelinebake.

I thing the right way to ask would be..Can i print without colour, and the answer is, yes in Greyscale
I am from Denmark, mayby some of text and pictures not look simular to yours, but i think you can see what i mean - ok
Go to controlpanel ->Printers (or Printers and fax), right cklick on your printer -> click on "Print Preferences"(see pricture Fig. 1 ("Udskriftsindstillinger" = "Print Preferences"))
Now you get a new menu, cklick on "Adwanced" (see picture Fig. 2 ("Avanceret" = "Advanced")), then select "Greyscale" ("Gr?skala" = "Greyscale"), and then "OK".
All what i printed out after that, was in greyscale "colour".

...now you also have learnd a little bit danish too :o))

Printer is Brother MFC215C. Cyan colour not coming

  1. Press Ink or Ink Management key on the control panel of the machine.

  2. Press 1 to choose 1.CLEANING.

  3. Press the up or down navigation key to choose the Black, Color or All you want to clean, and then press Menu/Set or Set.

The machine will clean the print head automatically. When cleaning is finished, the machine will go back online automatically.

Note If you clean the print head at least five times and the print has not improved, please contact Brother Customer Service from "Contact Us".

My DCP-115C printer was missing red colour.

Yellow is one of the colours used to produce a shade of red.

I don't know how but ther must be a way to print a test page to see if the print heads need cleaning I've never used a brother.

MFC240C - all printouts in green colour

green is a combination of Yellow and Cyan, it is possible that you are missing magenta, depends on the file you are trying to print, if you can print one of each color this time print only magenta it would be helpful to isolate w/c is w/c from there you can find out what is the problem

hope this helps

I cannot print but i have only the black cartridge but i dont have the yellow cyan ang midget

Most modern printers use some colour when printing Black and therefore will not print if ANY ink cartridge is showing as empty.

Unless your printer has a setting for using Black ink only (this is not the same as printing a black and white document), then you will need to purchase and install the colour cartridges before printing can take place. The good thing about this is that very little colour ink is used when printing black and white documents - so they should last a long time.

Good luck.

Print black & white?

Your printer will keep using the color cartridges to keep the printing head working even if you don't print in color. If you need to print only in greyscale, buy a cheap HP printer (Printer only, not a PSC) and remove the color cartridge.
