Carb needs cleaning, rebuilt or replaced. Take off and soak in carb cleaner for a day or so and blow out all orifices with shop air. if this does not fix then probably needs rebuilt or replaced.

Start up after sitting long time

After sitting a long time
1. drain all gas as alchol in gas absorbs water BAD!!!
2 mix new gas + oil correctly and fill tank
3 spray starting fluid in carb.
4 put full choke
5 set throttle
6 pull till engine pops
7 place choke to half choke and pull a few times to start
8 repeat steps 3 to 8 until running

Other problems are bad gas lines
problem with spark

Bottom line the engine should at least burn off the starting fluid
if it continues to stop the carb is going to be cleaned

Carb. needs to be rebuilt. If your choking the engine it to keep the alive and you've cleaned and replaced everything else, I would recommend carb. overhaul.

Engine quit when stopped at stop light. Acted as if it was choking then died. Tried restarting. Turns over strong, no start. Thought maybe no gas. Added gas after about 30 minutes. Started first try....

Sounds like the fuel pump is going out. Replace the filter first, as it's only $10. If that doesn't fix it, then it's probably the pump, which is $250.

I have a 1994 Intruder. It only starts and runs

The hot side is running way too lean. Have your carbs synchronized may help. Try draining the bowls. Good luck.

Engine does not continue to run

Are you laying off the choke at any point? Full choke should only be used when starting a cold engine, it should run with no choke on full throttle. If there is not enough throttle i'd first try adjusting the tiny black screw on the carb beneath your air filter while you have it idling, letting the throttle have a little bit more room. If this doesn't work and you're running it properly than you may need to make some adjustments to the H L settings for your gas/air mix. This is also done while idling mind you and only with a clean air filter.

It starts but will not continue to run. It needs

Too much air is getting into the cylinder. It probably involves a gasket and/or loose screws.

Check to make certain that the connection between the carburetor and engine is tight. A loose screw can allow air to infiltrate around the gasket and foul up the air/gas ratio.

Husky viprating on tick over and now wont start

I think you are saying it sputters but won't run. Once it attempts to fire open the choke or it may flood. My 359 start:
Cold: pull out choke control, pull starter (usually twice) while listening for attempt to start. Once it fires push choke control in and
continue pulling (usually once more).
Warm: pull out choke control (sets fast idle), push choke control in, pull starter.
Page 19 of my manual.

Once flooded these are a bear to start.

Try to start mower and turns over but wont start unless you pour gas in carb then it will start and run fine. 1648s scotts mower with a kohler motor.

Does it continue to run after you start it by pouring gas into the carburetor or does it die again?

If it continues to run, it sounds like your choke is not working. Probably disconnected -- check linkage.
