Whirlpool wfs1285aw noisy spin cycle

My front loader has become excessively noisy during the spin cycle. I suspect the bearings have gone. Is this usual symptom of bearing failure?
Is there one or two bearings and are they easily replaced?

Whirlpool Duet Washer Model WFW9400SZ00 bangs only during spin cycle.

Yes you are exactly right, these bearings have failed & are causing the noise very common problem with whirlpool front loaders. very expensive to repair worth while looking into replacing instead of repairing as it will just happen again. The new LG machines are the best in my opinion.

Loud clanking noise during spin cycle. Will not

If it is a front loader, then remove the rear panel, remove the belt, and soin drum by hand, if it feels rough, or is noisy and rumbling, then the main drum bearings have failed.
This is a major repair.

Leak with heavy load

Is the machne noisy? If not, it may soon become noisy. Sounds as if the grease seal protecting the basket spindle bearings is leaking. soon the bearings will fail

Washer noisy in spin cycle

It sounds like your drum bearings are about to go. I am not familiar with this model, but I would assume it is pretty much like all other front-loaders. Bearing kits can be purchased for all models but there is a great variance in cost eg. in europe €25-€75. It is also quite a difficult job to undertake for the sunday diy enthusiast as it involves stripping down the machine and removing the drum. If you are going to repair the machine as opposed to replacing it I would strongly advise doing it asap and continued use will cause the bearings to collapse rendering the machine irrepairable. Hope this helps.

Go to sear.com and then to the parts section. Type in your model # and there will be a list of sub compenents to the parts. Click on the tub section and the bearing (rear tub assembly) will be there.

Danby washing machine noisy only during spin cycle

hi there,

Most noises from a washing machine occur during the spin cycle. If you hear loud thumping/or sound
during the spin, the load of clothes may have become unbalanced. Stop the washer and
redistribute the clothes, then re-start it. Repeat these steps if necessary.
