Trimmer pull cord stuck in pulled position. How do I go about finding and fixing problem? Not sure exactly which screws/bolts to remove to get at the assembly.

I pulled the cord to start. On second or 3rd pull, I accidentally tried to pull again before it fully retracted. Now it is locked in the fully pulled position. Can't get it to move at all.

My Husqvarna 128LD trimmer pull cord is stuck.

When it sticks, try loosening each screw a tad, sometimes people screw the bolts back in too much, also there has been times where a spacer or washer did not get put back after the person restrung the unit.

Oil leak on poulan snow lower

follow this steps and fix it. God bless you
  • Remove the hex bolts holding the plastic leaf blower housing in place with your hex wrench. You may wish to cut the cord with your scissors and loosen the bolt or screw securing the rope assembly with your hex wrench or screwdriver.
  • 2 Remove the spring assembly carefully. Do not remove the spring, only remove the assembly.
  • 3 Remove the old cord from the leaf blower pull cord assembly by gently pulling it away from the assembly with your hands. Notice the direction the pull cord is wound, as this becomes important in the next step.
  • 4 Wind the new pull cord in the same direction you removed it in Step 3. Make sure the inner end of the pull cord secures in the faster or slot provided on the pull cord assembly. This varies depending on the leaf blower manufacturer.
  • 5 Replace the pull cord pulley and place over the spring. This is the white plastic spool.
  • 6 Rotate the pull cord assembly two or three times in the same direction the cord pulls wearing safety goggles and work gloves. Reinsert the center screw by screwing it in place with your screwdriver; this holds the pulley assembly together
  • 7 Insert the leaf blowers cord end into the end of the handle opening. Secure the handle by tying a knot at the bottom of the new pull cord; this prevents the handle from being pulled off the pull cord while you start the leaf blower.
  • 8 Place the pull cord assembly back onto your leaf blower in its designated area and secure by refastening the four hex nuts with your hex wrench.
  • 9 Replace the housing cover of the leaf blower and refasten the hex nuts with your hex wrench. You removed the housing cover in Step 1.

The head won,t turn

you will need to pull the head off, as it sounds like the cable is off. there should be four bolts/screws, there maybe some in the middle also, gently remove the head(this is the top of the trimmer where the pull cord is, once you have it separated you can turn the cable by hand and the line feeder should rotate, if it does then look inside the head and make sure it is still square and not rounded. or you can pull the line feeder off and pull the cord and see if the cable rotates, whichever you feel comfortable with trying. Good Luck Tim

The pull start on my line trimmer has pulled out i need to know what way the main shaft comes off to remove the casing so i can refit the starting line.

You should not have to remove the shaft to replace the pull cord on a trimmer, none that I know of anyway. On most models, the pull cord is in a small housing that is bolted to the side of the engine. Remove the housing and your there. What model trimmer do you have?

Remove the tube that holds the flex-drive shaft from the front of the motor cover.Remove the rear engine cover. Remove the throttle cable from the carburetor. Mark and unplug any wires for the on/off switch that go to the ignition coil (underneath front cover) if possible. Now if you have pulled the driveshaft tube out of the way, the clutch drum is up next. Inside it, screwed into the very end of the engine's crankshaft is a Torx #25 screw. Before you loosen it, you will have to lock up the engine. To do so, remove the spark plug. Pull on the starter until the piston is down, then insert a length of clean, soft rope into the engine. The engine will come up and compress the rope, thus locking it in place to allow clutch drum and clutch removal. Loosen the T-25 screw inside the drum.. You may be able to remove it with a long thin-blade screwdriver also.It probably won't come completely out...it is made this way. Next, remove the clutch. It is screwed onto a small threaded section of the crankshaft Removal is counterclockwise.. It will be pretty tight. To help, apply peneterating oil. Whack the ears of the clutch near the center with a dull flat-blade chisel and hammer unless there are bolts. then use wrench. It will turn counterclockwise for removal and there will probably be a removal direction arrow on it's face. After getting that off, remove the Torx screws holding the cover to the engine. The starter unit should be mounted inside as it mates with the top of the flywheel to start the motor. Remember to preload tension (5-7 turns) on the starter unit. Make sure the handle is installed. Jam the unit with a screwdriver or vise grips so you can insert and tie off the new rope. Then remove jam device and let recoil pull your new rope into place while holding the handle. Reassemble and you are done. Disassembly requires Torx head drivers or a good flat-blade screwdriver.

Snapper line trimmer the pull string broke how do we change it

Hi,
It is always a good idea to take pictures of each removal step to make reassembly easier.

Remove cover on the pull rope housing. Locate the flywheel which the pull cord wraps around. Remove screws or bolts that attach flywheel on the housing unit. Caution, be careful on recoil spring position. Locate hole on flywheel (side view) in which the original cord was feed through. Feed replacement into hole and tie a single knot. Reattach assembly.

These are the instrument you will used:
  • Screwdriver
  • Rag
  • Metal brush
  • Detergent

Trimmer seems to go to far up and does not trim at

Your trimmer is broken and will need to be replaced if you want it to work properly. You will find this item at shaveroutlet.com. See link below

http://shaveroutlet.com/braun-7680-syncro-lower-unit-p-642.html

To replace, you will first need to gently pry off the 'cap'on the bottom that surrounds the hole for the cord. Once removed the side grips will easily pull away revealing 4 screws on the back. Remove screws to take off the back then lift out the internal components. Reassemble with new case in reverse order

The on/off slider is stuck on won't slide to off position

The trimmer/switch is broken. You will need to replace it. You will find the components that you require at shaveroutlet.com. See link below

http://shaveroutlet.com/braun-8995-8595-and-8795-body-housing-with-trimmer-p-684.html

To replace the part you will need to remove the 'cap' that surrounds the cord hole on the bottom of the shaver by gently prying it off with a small flat screwdriver or similar object. Once removed, the side grips will easily pull off revealing 4 screws. Remove screws to seperate the front and back case. The inner parts simply lift out and you can put them into the new case

Gas weed eater pull cord wont retract after pulling cord

remove the cover and the screw holding the recoil down, turning the pulley ccw should release the spring then wind rope around pulley and (hopefully yours has the slot in it) wind in the direction of the pulley teeth then, holding rope in slot put back on spring and wind cw till almost tight, and install screw. Usually you can do this without taking rope handle off. sometimes you have to remove handle. look at spring end in the middle and make sure its not broke as long as you have it apart. Its a easy fix.
