Drain Pump

If the dishwasher is loud during operation, the drain pump might be defective or might have some debris in it. This is a common problem.

Circulation Pump

If the dishwasher is loud during operation, and the noise is a continuous drone similar in speed to the circulation pump sound, it's likely that the circulation pump motor bearings have failed. Once this happens the circulation pump will have to be replaced, the bearings are not repairable.

Drain Impeller

If the dishwasher is loud during operation, the drain impeller might be broken, or there might be debris in the pump. Generally, to gain access to the pump the top of the pump housing will have to be removed.

Pump and Motor Assembly

If the dishwasher is loud the motor bearings, drain impeller or wash impeller might have worn out. All three of these components are part of the pump and motor assembly. It may be possible to replace one of the impellers, but the motor bearings cannot be repaired. In that case the pump and motor assembly will need to be replaced.

Wash Impeller

The wash impeller is a small, plastic blade. The motor spins the impeller forcing water through the spray arms to clean the dishes. If one or more blades has broken off of the impeller the dishwasher is loud. The impeller can also scrape against the pump housing if it is damaged, warped or bent.

Water Inlet Valve

The water inlet valve is an electrically controlled water valve. When it is new, the water inlet valve is very quiet. Over time, the diaphragm inside the valve deteriorates and deforms. This deformation interacts with the water rushing in and can cause a loud vibration, buzzing, squealing or other noises. If the dishwasher is loud during the filling cycle, replacing the water inlet valve may solve the problem.

Replacing impeller

Remove the back cover of the motor to expose the plastic fan. Find the c clip that holds it on the motor shaft. Remove the nut that is on the front side of the impeller. I used a vise grips to hold the shaft from spinning on the side where the fan was. A small 2 or 3 arm puller hooked under the front shoulder of the impeller and that is all you need to do.

Goulds pump model BGR75 won't reset. Any tips.

If the motor runs but keeps tripping the overload, the motor is bad or the motor is under a big load. Does it pump water? If not, check the impeller and see if there is anything wrong with it. If it does pump water and the motor trips overload, the only thing left to check is the overload. Check the motor's amp draw and if within specs, replace overload. If amps are too high, replace motor.

GE Triton seems to lack pump pressure to rotate the wash arms.

1)please check the impeller nut is loose.

2) please check the hose connected to the arm any block.

It is hobart kdi-21a. I got the water out but looks like it is garbage in the bottom. Big screen open but maybe down in the pump? Can I remove the lower X wash arm, no screw but a big rivet?

You can lift off the wash arm and pump screen. You will see the pump shell with screws to separate the top from the bottom. Next is the wash impeller with a center screw and a drive washer. Under the impeller are shims. Don't loose any. The same with under the drain impeller. Just be methodical with your disassembly, lay the parts out in a row as you remove them, and reassemble in reverse order once you have cleared the problem.

Need motor & impellor for Hobart AM8

I havn't seen an AM8 in over 15 years.
Hobart will keep parts available for quite a few years past end of production, but this may be too long. The AM 10 and early 12's are compatable.
You need a 6 bolt pump to motor. Yours has the old cast iron wash arms. All the new have light stainless arms. Just checked my records. the new AM12 which superceeded your design was in 1981. Perhaps look around for a used AM14 which fits your tables and plumbing. Confirm the voltage is compatable.
The AM15 is the current spec and is far superior.

I have a hobart sr24h dishwasher that does not rinse or wash with any food off the dishes.

Check inside your wash arms for debris. Remove them and clean them out.

Otherwise, the wash impellor may be bad.

Pump Continuously surges

hi,im a hobart service tech.couple of things to try (you may already have)--check the wash arms at the seams make sure their not cracked, make sure the drain is sealed and not leaking at all.if the unit loses any water or the wash arms are cracked at the seam the unit will sound like its starving for water.make sure the unit is leveled.next time you go back if its acting up pour a half gallon of water in the tank and see if it runs correctly,if it does you could be losing water or the water fill vave could be acting up and not letting enough water in.let me know.
