If you do not have a surge protector, when the power came back on, a high voltage spike probably damaged sensitive electronic components. Always use a surge protector for any device that has electronic components. The higher the joule rating, the more energy that can be absorbed.

LCD TV no power but standby light on solid

The standby light means the tv is plug into the wall and getting power. A power surge can wipe out a tv and still leave the power light on.

My Panasonic TV (model TC-P50C2) has stopped working. Seems to be power related. When the electricity was restored after a power outage, I heard a loud pop sound and the TV shut off.

Generally a new power board would fix this but IF you got a good replacement one it has to be the main board, look for the PSON or PWR-on terminal on the power board, hook a meter to that and look for about 3.5 volts on that terminal when you push the power button, chances are you won't find any and that is the main that is bad in that case

Defrost light (red light) is on in heat mode and unit not working on heat. Has happened since a power outage.

Good Morning Ray,

I understand that the defrost light is on in heat mode on your Electrolux air conditioner, and your appliance is not working on heat. I also see that this has happened since you had a power outage. I suggest resetting your appliance, by either unplugging your appliance or shutting the power off at your home's circuit breaker, for 3-5 minutes. Restore power and try any setting. I ask that you please follow up with a comment on the post, at your convenience, to advise if further troubleshooting is needed or if your appliances status has changed successfully. If further troubleshooting is needed, please provide me with the model number of your air conditioner. Hope this is helpful.

-Best Regards-

Whirlpool refrigerator not cooling after storm

Assuming that both freezer and refrigerator temperatures have risen and the humming sound that you heard was followed by a sudden click more than likely the start device on the compressor has gone bad. This is a common problem with all Whirlpool refrigerators (KitchenAid is Whirlpools top of the line product and suffers the same problem).

MY Toshiba 65H93 doesn't come on.When I press the power button nothing happen. But when I unplug the it from the AC outlet and plug it back into the AC Outlet I here a clicking sound, but the set still...

Same here! Just happened yesterday after we had a power outage in the neighborhood and when the power to the neighborhood was restored my 65H93 would not power on with the remote or the power button on the front of the TV. I get the same clicking sound when unplugging and or pushing the reset on the front of the TV. I also see a red light come on inside for about a half a second after hitting reset or unplug/replugging it in. I'm thinking it has something to do with the standby circuit not coming on due to some problem with the power supply/circuit board?

Have you found out anything yet? I'll let you know if I find out anything also.
Thanks

Power outage this am. Wii won't even turn on

Usually, after a power outage, a power spike (when the power returns) can disable/blow the fuse in the AC adapter for the Wii.

Try the following steps in this order:

FIRST:
- unplug the Wii's power cord from the wall, and leave it unplugged (from 5 mins. to 5 hours). Then, plug it back into the wall. (Unplugging the power cord from the back of the Wii will not help. You need to unplug the power cord from the wall.)
- This usually helps reset the fuse circuit in the AC adapter, and your Wii should work again.

SECOND:
- open the panel on the AC adapter box in the power cord; since the screws are proprietary, you will need to creatively use existing tools to turn the screws
- check the 3A fuse in that box; if it looks blown, then replace it

THIRD:
- it might be cheaper to replace the AC adapter with another one

FOURTH:
- get the unit repaired

MUST DO:
- buy a SURGE PROTECTOR power bar, and plug all of your expensive items into it (to prevent this from happening again).

Hope that helps!
