Have an old commercial stove/oven/griddle combo, purchased second hand. everything works, but when I lit the oven pilot I was able light the oven, everything looked operational for a few minutes. After shutting the gas off I had to relight everything and again the pilot lit, then the oven. I set the oven for 400 and put an oven thermometer on the rack. The burner turned off and I am unable to get it to relight. Pilot is still on but looks very small. I can push the red button on the gas valve in and the pilot is normal momentarily. No joy on lighting the burner again.
any thoughts are appreciated in advance
I would take out the pilot and clean it up and see what happens, also look behind the unit and see if theres a gas regulator on the gas line,if so you will see a nut on it take it off with a pair of pliers and clean as well.that valve is actually the saftey valve, when the pilot lights the flame impinges on the thermocouple and that sends a millivolt back to that valve in order to open.if none of these resolve your problem i would replace the thermocouple first as this is a cheap part and easy to put on.if you need a part # i can give it to you.let me know.

cleaned the pilot and the oven has worked well today. Hopefully this will do the trick. Will monitor a couple more days. Thanks very much for the insight!
seems to have done the trick!
well, kinda back to square one. Issue is now the pilot will not stay lit. If I relight the pilot and hold the button in on the gas valve the oven will light. I am suspecting the gas valve by now. Is there a part# for the valve and a separate one for the pilot circuit?
again, my thanx in advance.
I have replaced the safety valve but when I push the red button gas comes out around the red button and no gas is at the pilot to light
The oven and gill gas won't stay lit therefore unable to cook in oven.
old oven in an apartment, buttons are faded off. Could be doing everything wrong.
pilot will not stay lit
after oven working some time shuts off burners and pilot
after lighting pilot light, gas burner does not light even though enough time had passed before turning control knob to desired settint.
Oven was on, got to temperature. Fused. Pilot light off, how do I relight the pilot
