Why does red TEMP light come on after power up?

We picked this projector up at a surplus sale and when it starts up, the red TEMP light comes on after about 10 seconds. It sounds like a fan is having problems on the inside and that might be the issue but I have no idea where to start. Any suggestions??

The fan is important. If it doesn't turn at the correct speed the red light will come on. Replace the fan and that will fix the problem Go to Casio's website to get the part or try here:

SOURCE: when I plug in the power/standby displays red -

Perform a Factory Reset:
1) Plug unit into AC power, so that all the lights come on as mentioned.
2) Press and hold "MENU", "ENTER" and "INPUT" (all together) for at least 5 seconds. Error lights will clear.
3) Turn OFF by POWER button, wait a few seconds.
4) Turn power ON by pressing the POWER button.
The projector will turn ON, but will take a while (1-2 minutes) to load firmware.
5) Recommend to go into Menu and at the very bottom use the "restore all defaults"

Infocus in104 projetor problem: power off, temp red, lamp green

Most probably failure of the thermistor or thermal fuse that detects the temperature of the lamp housing - so the projector thinks it's hot even when it's cold. Unfortunately it will need a trip to an authorised service centre for repairs

Red power, blinking red temp

Hi,

if the Lamp error and Temperature error lights are flashing red this means that there are two separate errors.

  • A flashing lamp light means the lamp failed to ignite. It could be a lamp driver problem or lamp failure. Replace the lamp to resolve the issue. If the issue is not resolved, then service the projector.
  • A flashing Temperature light signals a fan error. Turn the projector off and allow it to cool down. If the light is still flashing after the projector is turned back on, service the projector.
Goodluck..

The projector turned itself off after couple hours of use and the Temp. red light came on. Power Light turned red instead of orange as usual. After 3hrs I turned it back on, cleaned the dust off the fan...

There are three temp sensor inside the projector and now your projector need full service but if the air filter becomes clogged with dust, the internal temperature of the projector will rise, the TEMP indicator will illuminate and the projector's power will turn off (the TEMP indicator will flash after the power is turned off) The air filter should be cleaned every 100 hours of use.
If you clean the filter with a vacuum cleaner to clean off any accumulated dust. then your projector working normally

LCD projector still not working after lamp change

Sounds like you have a faulty ballast. I recomend changing it. This is your lamps own power supply.

Temp fault

check all the internal fans, if even one does not start, the projector will soon shut down!
every fan has three wires, one is the stop signal, that should stay "low" in most models.
this wire might be white or yellow, the red is + supply/blue or black is -supply(or gnd).

Hitachi projector temp light

This is what your projector's user manual says about a flashing "TEMP" light :

"The cooling fan is not operating. Turn the power OFF and wait approximately 20 minutes. After the main unit has cooled down, please make confirmation that no foreign matter has become caught in the fan, etc. After performing any needed maintenance, turn the power ON again; if the same display is displayed, then please contact a sales store or a service company."

Hi George86969

Try checking if all the fans are working when you swich on the unit. Normally a static red temp. light is a faulty fan that will have to be replaced.

My CP-RS55 Projector Doesn't Work??? No Light?

Lamp

I have the CP-X275W that did the same thing. The ballast was bad and I fixed it with a $5 switching regulator. The CP-X327 has the identical ballast.

Details:

The High Intensity Discharge Metal Halide lamp suddenly failed to light up. A new lamp was installed and would not light up either. The fan ran and the lamp LED flashed after a few minutes. Voltage to the ballast module was 368VDC. The ballast did not pulse.

Ballast# PS-226-LS-210 was bad. Hitachi Part# HA01101 has been discontinued and the new part number is HA01102. It was $210USD at Vance Baldwin or $221USD at Part Solver.

The FET series (TR1,5,6,7,8,) seemed good: (drain-source resistance=5Kohm). Bought an identical projector on Ebay to do comparative multimeter measurements. Found resistance differences in IC01 (STRG6153). Swapped good part to bad projector, and it worked. This is a 5-pin Sanken brand switching regulator, US$5 at www.electronix.com. They have the STRTG6153, which is compatible, and may be better. The bad one removed from the circuit measures 15Kohm on pin 3 to pin 5 and the same 15Kohm when the probes are reversed. The good one measures 18Mohm and infinite when the probes are reversed.

If you would like me to fix it for you and clean all your optics, I can do it for $150USD plus $25 return shipping. Contact Chris at [email protected].

If you have a new lamp for sale I would buy one for $100USD.

Good luck.
