Why would the welder on the miller trailblazer 250G 4000 watt generator welder quit working but the generator still works?

There could be a few different reasons why the welder on the Miller Trailblazer 250G 4000 watt generator welder would quit working but the generator still works. Here are a few things to check:
  1. Check the welding settings, make sure they are appropriate for the type of welding you are doing. Make sure the voltage and amperage are set correctly.
  2. Check the ground connection, make sure it's clean and tight. The ground connection must be secure for stable welding.
  3. Inspect the welding cables and make sure they are in good condition and that the connections are tight.
  4. Check the welding gun and make sure it's clean and in good condition.
  5. Check the main contactor and make sure it's engaging and disconnecting properly.
  6. Check the main circuit breaker and make sure it's not tripped.
  7. Check the power output of the generator and make sure it's within the correct range.
  8. Check the control circuit and make sure that it's not damaged or malfunctioning.
  9. Check the engine oil level and make sure it's not too low, low oil level can cause the engine to overheat and stop working.
  10. Check the air filter and make sure it's not clogged, if the air filter is dirty, it will cause the engine to run hot.
It's important to check the manual of the welder for troubleshoot steps and also check the warranty of the welder and see if it's still covered by the manufacturer. If you are not able to find the problem or if you are not familiar with welding equipment, it's best to take your welder to a qualified Miller Electric welder repair service center, they will be able to diagnose and fix the issue.

I have a miller wildcat welding/ generator and the problem is that when I start the generator, it runs for a few minutes and then automatically shuts off. Whats the problem?

Hi:
The most common problem is the oil pressure switch. First make sure your machine has the oil up to the level line. If oil level is ok, then order the oil pressure switch and change it. If neither of these two actions cure the problem then send it in to be inspected by an authorized service mechanic.

Good luck

My lincoln welder/generator with onan engine will only run for a short time when it shuts down. It doesn't matter if in use or not, either welding or generating. It is getting fuel and the coil has been...

The engine has low oil level shutdown. It may be the reason for stopping.

Use the welder only at level condition. Check the oil level, before every start.
If no result, find and check the oil sensor contact (if possible replace with good to check). Try with disconnected and shortened contact prior to buying a new one.

Other possible reasons you already checked

Will not generate or weld, was working ok last time it was running about 1 year ago.

It probably has lost all residual magnetic field from the rotor.

You may need to "flash" the field to restore operation.

Search Google for instructions. Sometimes others have found that plugging in an electric drill that does NOT have a throtling trigger and spinning it while connected to the generator will get the generation started again. There are other methods as well.

Lincoln Welder Generator Oil Question

Better late then never! im-308 total lube oil is 4 pints for a briggs and stratton engine
.
and 3.5 for an onan engine with filter change.

Note: an internal kill switch will shut down the engine if the oil level drops below a minumum

operating level on the onan engine only.

on your welder use a multi-viscosity sae sj grade or better oil. recommended is 10w-30.

if you work in cold environments use 5w-30 oil , it's thinner and will flow easier

during cold starts. Synthetic oil is better. just more expensive. change oil at least

every 100 hours for better performance. good luck!

Generator will start and run easy, then just die.

Check for loose wiring connections, especially at the run or kill switch. Generators vibrate a lot so it could be as simple as something loose.

The water hose keeps bursting while welding aluminum

The probable caures is due to the coolant pressure, do'nt turn this full on, if it's from the mains tap turn on and notice a trickel from the outlet, one half turn of the tap should be ok depending on the water presure. If its from a recirculation tank check the vale govener inside the tank. The torch data will indicate the coolant pressure
