If after all you do, reinstall drivers, clean, etc. unit still does not print, then your problem may lie with the print head which on Canon printers is NOT part of the cartridge.

If cartridges have been filled that may be causing the issue and there could be a work around for it posted on Google. Printer outfits do not want you to get your own ink.

My printer goes through the motion of printing but the paper comes out blank. I've an hp deskjet d2360 and there is ink in it

Possibility cartridge print head dry.

Solution 1:
Do a clean process
cartridge automatically. Press START - Control Panel - Printers and Faxes - HP Deskjet d2360 right click and select Printing Preferences - Select the Color tab - select Printer Services - select Clean cartridge, wait for the cleaning process is completed - Perform Test print. If the print test results, has good graphics, press Finish. If the graph is not clear or drop out, repeat the cleaning process once again.

Solution 2:
1. Open the cover printer, cartridges will move to the middle position.
2. Remove the cartridge (be careful, do not touch the element cartridges or print head by hand), then stick the tip cartridge (print head) to clean water
3. Then, attach the print head to a tissue paper. If there is a tissue paper used in ink (black cartridges, black block lines, and color cartridges, three color red yellow blue lines), means the flow of ink to the print head is normal. If the
tissue paper no trace of ink, attach back into the water, repeat the above process.
4. After process is complete no.3, clean the cartridges with a tissue paper (careful, do not touch the element cartridges or print head by hand, because it will damage the cartridge). After cartridge clear of the water, insert the cartridges into printer.

Hey, I have the X7170 printer and haven't used it for about a year. Now, the fax, and scan works fine, but when I print a paper, it comes out blank even if the ink catridge is full. Seems that there is...

A technique to improve print quality is to try and clean the cartridge nozzles. You may clean the cartridge by following the steps given below:
1. Go to the "Lexmark solution center." This can be done by clicking on "Start," go to "Programs" and Lexmark printer group. Click on the "Lexmark Solution center." Next click on the "Maintenance" Tab.
2. Select "Clean and Fix Horizontal streaks." Click on "Print". This will produce a printed page.
The colors that you should see here are black, yellow, magenta (a reddish purple) and cyan (a dark sky blue). You should notice the diagonal lines above and below the solid horizontal lines. These diagonal lines should be solid from left to right with no gaps.
If there are gaps in the lines or the print diminishes across the page, you should run the "Clean Print Nozzle" page a couple more times to try and clear it up. If you still have gaps at the top and bottom, you should "wick" the cartridges by following the steps given below:
1. Please open the "Solution center" again and go to the "Maintenance" Tab.
2. Select "Install color/black cartridge" and remove the cartridge or cartridges from the printer.
3. Get a damp paper towel.
4. Set the ink cartridge right side up on the damp paper towel so that the ink nozzles are against the towel and hold the cartridge in this position for about 15 seconds.
5. Now wipe the print head (on the bottom where the ink comes out) across in one direction only (left to right) until it looks clean.
6. Next dab the cartridge on the towel to make sure that the ink is flowing.
7. Snap the cartridges back into the printer.
8. On your computer, select "Old Cartridge install."
9. Repeat the "Clean Nozzle Page" one more time. If this fails to address the problem the entire procedure may need repeating.
Good Luck!!!!

I replaced the clear ink tank on mx7600 and the message "the clear ink is empty" will not go away nor will it print in black. The brand new Canon brand clear ink can be seen on the ink tank itself and in...

Yeah, me too. I fiddled with cycling the power, removing and reinserting the tank, doing maintenance tasks like cleaning the jets, yadda, yadda, no dice. New full Canon tank displays empty. Boo.

I figured "What the heck, I'll try printing anyway" and sent a test page on plain paper. It warned me the tank was empty, then did a bunch of those cartridge moves it likes to do (you hear the carriage moving around cleaning or something). After like 90? seconds of cleaning noises, it figured out that the tank was full, the status went to full, and it printed the page fine.

So my advice is, try printing a page anyway.

Printer prints blank pages

The print head is a part of the printer itself and unlike other printers, you cannot remove it or soak it without ruining your printer. So just try the print head cleaning option and perhaps replace cartridges, especially if you are using a third party or refilled cartridge which can clog even if it is full.

My epson stylus photo printer is printing a black vertical line in all my prints. I have done the head cleaning and print head alignment several times. Is there anything else I can do?

black vertical lines on the printout comes due to some reasons.
1) if the black cartridge is near to its end it will give black lines instead of proper printing.
the cartridges gets over many times due to head cleaning and deep cleaning.in 3-4 cleanings cartridge gets over.in one cleaning 4 ml of ink gets puled out of cartridge.the whole quantity of cartridge is near to 25 ml.
but if the cartridge is full then the problem is of cartridge head .the head is the part in which you insert the cartridges if the head is got blocked internally to its holes from where ink comes out.then there are two methods to clean the head one is head cleaning which you did.the other is removing the head by disassembling the printer and then cleaning the head manually with isoprophyll liquid.but its a time consuming and tough job.a local printer repair center will be advisable,
and in some cases it has seen that cartridge gets air pressure problem inside and due to that it leaks inside the printer so replacing that cartridge solves the problem.also many times the cartridge gets leaked and that leaked ink gets collected and stuck up on the roller of the printer from where paper passes so the strips of ink gets printed on the paper.in this case no head cleaning but cleaning the internal roller of the printer with tissue paper helps.the procedure is called servicing.that can also be done at local printer repair center.or you can do it manually by using tissue paper.but to service whole printer it needs to be disassemble.
check out his option.thanks.

Printer "works" but page is blank, no printing. Words are not going from computer to printer. Epson C86. Ink cartridge is new. This happened after I cleared a paper jam.

Are you confident the new cartridges are full and in-date? Can you confirm that the old cartridges were not removed until immediately before the new cartridge was installed. Did you remove the yellow tape from the new cartridges before you installed them? Were the cartridges changed properly such that an ink charging cycle occurred. Have you carried out any head cleaning cycles? If not, do it. Have you done a nozzle check print? If not, do it. Any sign of black ink? Yes, but not perfect? If so do a couple more head cleans and nozzle checks. If still not perfect, let it rest for 24 hours to disperse air bubbles. Then repeat.

If you have already done lots of head cleans with no result, and you're sure you have good ink cartridges properly installed, then you can try soaking the print heads for 24 hours (or more), as follows. Turn the printer on, and as soon as the print head moves pull the power cord out of the back, or turn the printer off at the mains. You may now carefully move the print head by hand over to the left hand side out of the way. Look inside the print head parking area on the right and you will see a small rubber cup that comes up to cover the print nozzles when the head is parked (to stop it drying out). Use a syringe or dropper to fill this cup with head cleaning fluid or distilled water. DO NOT USE TAP WATER. Carefully push the print head fully into its parking position so that the cup full of fluid comes up over the print head. Leave this for at least 24 hours, then try a head clean/nozzle check again. If still nothing, post a new comment detailing what you have done and the results.

It prints ok, but paper is blank (no ink at all)

1. Remove the protective tape from the cartridges:
1. With the printer power on, open the front cover of the printer. The cartridge carrier should move to the middle.
2. Remove the cartridge(s) from the printer.
3. Look on the underside of the cartridge(s). If there is yellow tape and/or transparent blue tape there, remove it.
2. Clean the cartridge nozzles:
1. Go to the Lexmark Control Program or Solution Center and run the Clean print nozzle test.
If a black cartridge is installed, you should see black lines only.
If the color cartridge is installed, you should see yellow, magenta (a reddish purple), and cyan (a dark sky blue) lines.
If a photo cartridge is installed, you may see different colors.
2. Examine the diagonal lines above and below the solid horizontal lines. These diagonal lines should be solid from left to right, with no gaps.
If there are gaps in the lines, you could run the Clean Print Nozzle page a few more times to try and clear it up or try the "wicking" procedure below to conserve ink.
If the page is faded from left to right and the wicking procedure doesn't clear it up, your cartridge is probably out of ink.
3. Clean ("wick") the cartridges:
1. Remove your cartridges following the instructions in your User's Guide.
2. Take a warm, damp paper towel and fold it so that it has about 4- to 6-ply thickness.
3. Set the ink cartridge right side up on the damp paper towel so that the ink nozzles are touching the towel, and hold the cartridge in this position for about 15 seconds. The nozzles are where the ink comes out of the cartridge.
4. Now drag the cartridge lightly across the paper towel in one direction only (left to right) until the bottom of the cartridge looks clean.
5. Turn the cartridge over so that you can see the bar code sticker on the back. Note: Only perform steps 6 and 7 if the contacts look dirty or corroded.
6. Using a clean pencil eraser, clean the contact points on the copper strip (only the little squares just below the bar code). Caution! Do not use the eraser on the nozzles that were cleaned, as this will damage the cartridge.
7. Using a clean part of your dry paper towel, wipe the eraser dust off the contacts; ensure that they are dry, and snap the cartridge back into the printer.
8. Make sure to install the cartridges following the instructions in your User's Guide, selecting Old Cartridge. Failure to do so could reset your ink levels as explained above.
9. Repeat the nozzle cleaning procedure one more time. At this point the diagonal lines should be solid.
10. If they are not and you think the cartridges should have ink in them, contact our technicians by e-mail and let them know the results of this test.
4. Reset the ink levels:
Lexmark printer cartridges do not have ink sensors. The levels of ink are produced by a mathematical calculation of ink drops and page counts. The printer stores this information and then writes it to the win.ini file on your computer.

Ink levels can be reset by telling the printer you have installed a new ink cartridge or by reinstalling the printer drivers and selecting Cartridges Installed. Once ink levels have been reset, there is no way to change them except by printing.

Accordingly, even if your computer says that your ink is full for a particular cartridge, it may be incorrect and the cartridge may need to be replaced. You may want to try a new cartridge to see if that clears up any print quality problems.
