The control seems to be the issue. I have rewired so many scooters. When you have power and it wont go, it is usually the control. If you cannot afford the part right away, you can rewire it or have it rewired direct

SOURCE: Scooter stops intermittenly

Hi. Does the machine stop suddenly, or does it slowly stop as it normally would? Does this happen on hills or slopes?
A lot of scooters have a self-resetting circuit breaker connected to the battery leads. If the machine draws to much current ( amps ) then the circuit breaker trips out. After a few minutes the circuit breaker will reset and you can continue.
This could mean that the circuit breaker is faulty or that the motor is drawing to much current, or is burnt out.
Some machines have a very light duty circuit breaker, and these can trip out often. I have changed many of these circuit breakers for this reason.
Check all your battery leads are secure and tight.
If it is still a problem, get a serviceman to check the motor current is what it should be.
Good luck. Neil.

SOURCE: With new charged batteries, scooter shuts down

Hi. I have had this fault on a few machines, but its not always the same problem.
When scooter motors have done a lot of work, they develope a build up of carbon dust from the brushes. This dust can cause a short or the commutator might be slightly out of round, causing the brushes to vibrate or bounce. The electronic controller is always monitoring the speed of the armature, and if this signal is interupted, the the controller can shut down the motor. Test the motor with a multi-meter on OHM's, from one of the brushes to the frame of the motor. If there is no circuit, then there is no build up of carbon. If there is a circuit, then you might need to overhaul the motor.

Also check the battery lead connectors, and the motor lead connectors. I have had to remove many of these for bad connections. Really bad connections will have burnt or melted the plastic housings.
Good luck. Neil.

Scooter keeps stopping randomly. The battery level near to the speed lever drops quickly to red, scooter stops. Turn it off then on again and fine for a bit - then same happens?

These units are 24 volt systems. If the voltage at the controller drops below 18 volts the controller will cut out. Shutting the unit off and back on resets the controller. Since your battery gauge is dropping into the red when accelerating your batteries are suspected to be bad. If the batteries LOAD test fine then check your battery harness and circuit breaker wiring for a loose and / o r hot connection after riding it.
