Why doesn't the router recognize the Safaricom modem?

Hi Majlis Al Marif Al Islamiyyah, we want to help you with your question, but we need more information from you. Can you please add details in the comment box? Can you tell us what ip addresses are being used ? What is the TP - Link ip address and subnet for internal ip address and also what is the DHCP server IP lease range.
On the Safaricom Modem / Router what is the IP address and subnet mask set to and does it have a dhcp server activated that should be de-activated or at the very least not be running on two routers on the same network ? Note also two devices should not have the same ip address !

Reset the router to factory default. The default user and password is admin/admin.

Or if you have backup configuration, there is a software to read this file and extract the password for you.

Good luck

I cannot connect to a wifi

Try resetting both modem and router. If that doesn't work try setting your modem if using a router then router to recognize your PS3 as a DMZ host.

My modem is working correctly. My wireless router is working, but my laptop doesn't recognize my modem; therefore, I cannot access the internet. I can if I plug the Ethernet cord into my laptop.

There's a lot of layers to what can go wrong, generally speaking you should be able to get online if two conditions are met: You are connected to your wireless network, and your modem is assigning an IP address to your router.

Once you know you are connected to your wireless network (you should be able to see the correct network name when you put your mouse over the computer icon in the lower right - assuming you are using Windows), you can generally fix most situations where the modem is not assigning the router an IP address by resetting the devices in the proper order, here's how:

1. Unplug the power cord from both the modem and the router
2. Wait 1 full minute
3. Plug the power back in on the modem
4. Wait for the Cable light to go solid
5. Plug the power back in on the router

This will solve the vast majority of issues. If it does not, double check to make sure the ethernet cord from the modem is going into the proper plug on the router. Usually this is going to be labeled "Internet", "Modem", or "WAN", in stead of a number.

If even this does not resolve the issue, feel free to give your ISP a call. While this may be a problem with the router, most ISP employees are at least willing to do minor preliminary troubleshooting, and will often have access to advanced tools to help them see what the modem can see.

Not recognized by cable modem

Turn everything off for 2 minutes, cable modem, router and pc.

Turn on modem and wait 2 minutes for the modem to sync to TW.
Turn on router after 2 mins and wait until the router syncs with the modem.
Turn on PC
It sounds like your router lost its connection to the cable modem, which happens from time to time. TW will not help with your router. I worked for a cable co and the router and modem losing sync was the at least 70% of the calls. FYI cable doesn't use DSL,just the phone co.

Configure Modem Echolife HG520s With WRT54G OR WRE54G

Not sure if I understand properly but your router should have a WAN port or an "Internet" port

your modem should be connected to it and your PC should be on any of the LAN port
