MY CAMERAS SHOWS 'MEMORY CARD ERROR'. i'VE TRIED TAKING IT OUT AND RE-INSERTING IT.

THERE ARE LOTS OF PHOTOS ON THE CARD. IT HAS HAPPENED BEFORE BUT PUSHING THE CARD IN AND OUT USUALLY FIXES IT. NOT THIS TIME.

SOURCE: Photos stuck on integral memory?

When viewing pictures, select the 'Menu' option. Scroll down and on the second page there's a 'copy' function that can either transfer photos from internal memory to a memory card or vice versa.

I didn't know this was possible until today, either. Handy!

SOURCE: Message: Memory Card Error - Memory Card Parameter Error on 4gb SDHC card

I recently bought a DMC-TZ3 and have been researching memory cards. Several sites sell cards with the camera and list the card type. I would suggest buying one of these cards. Any cards larger than 2gb must be SDHC type SD cards. There appear to different types of SDHC cards, 1.0, 1.1 and 2.0. Check out Wikipedia.org for a description. 2.0 cards are not compatable for devices developed prior to 2.0 so that may be the reason for the camera problem. So far I haven't seen anything that states what type SDHC card the camera requires. I found a computer memory site that that sells memory that they say will work. There may be others.

SOURCE: Message: Memory Card Error - Memory Card Parameter Error on 4gb SDHC card

I have been rummaging around trying to find two solutions: 1) to get my Toshiba Satellite card reader to read SDHC cards and 2) to get my desktop USB ports to read SDHC cards. While MS offers a hotfix for XP, it does not always work because of the different Chip Sets in computers. I have also read where posters say that the SDHC card works in the compter NOW, but NOW will not work in the camera... and the SDHC card NOW works in the camera but will NOT work in the computer.... I found a tekkie article that may help clear the air... SDHC cards are formatted in Fat32x (NOTICE the "x") and SD cards are formatted in Fat32 (no 'x') and these compatibility problems arise when the user unwittingly or unknowingly RE-formats the SDHC card, either when it is put in the computer and won't read or when it is put in the camera and won't read... but just don't bother to mention that THAT is what they did upon inserting the card and only proceeded to complain about an apparent incompatibility. The camera or computer might even mislead you asking if you want to format the card..... but all is not lost. The Panasonic site gives a program AND a pdf instruction book on How To ReFormat an SD or SDHC card specifying the proper Fat32x or Fat32 format. Hope this helps.

you may try some card recovery software, recommended asoftech photo recovery that helped me before.

If needed, you may do a quick format of the card, and then use asoftech photo recovery to recover files.

Took out memory card to transfer photos. returned card to camera and it indicated memory card error shut down leaving lens out.

Never remove or insert a memory card while the camera is turned on. Try removing the battery, waiting about 30 minutes, and then putting in a freshly charged battery.

Please check your cameras capability to support larger sized SD cards. It may not support those two SD cards. Also check for slide locks on the side of the cards and slide them to 'open' before inserting.

Vikram, first of all take no more pictures with the memory card. You'll need to use recovery software to recover your photos. There are very many freeware options for your to choose (here's a short listing with reviews). You'll need to use your computer's card reader with this software. Now AFTER you've recovered your photo's, you'll need to initialize (format) the card in your camera (DON'T use your computer to initialize the card). This will erase the card, but it will also help prevent this instance from reoccurring. Look in your camera's menus for the format option.

I have a Fujifilm finepix camera and my fujifilm XD card has a read error and won't show my pictures on the camera or in a card reader. Are there any free recovery programs out there?

Sometimes memory card error happens without any notice. But luckily most of the time we are able to fix the memory card error and get back files on the memory card. Take a look at this guide:

good luck!

Memory card

Hi Harriet, you can try using a memory card reader and inserting your memory card in it and connecting it to a computer.
Then format the memory card.
I am sure it will work after that.

File Error report on a W80 camera....

I had the same problem.
First, I changed my Memory-Stick, because after taking about 60 pictures the famous file error appeared.
Secondly, if the camera shows the famous "file error" this can be resolved - at least in my case - by taking out the battery for at least 4 hours.
So, if your camera is not in use, always take out the memory-stick and the battery and the problem does not appear. This helped in my case.
However, this is in my opinion anything but satisfying. I had a Nikon Coolpix nd never experienced any problems like the "file error" of the sony digicams.
