I can't speak for the UK systems, but if that happened here is the USA, I would suspect that the local provider had a bad connection on one of their satellite feeds and was transmitting the poor signal to their customers. Also, solar issues can occasionally cause poor satellite communications.

My humax won't;t record bbc channels. I have tried retuning the tv.

This could be too much signal thanks to the Freeview retunes going on. Your aerial is more sensitive at some frequencies, so there's more signal power higher up the frequency range. The signals for BBC and ITV are among the strongest ones broadcast. If they are now at a point on the aerial's range where they are too strong for the TV then the tuner will over-saturate. The result is the same as no signal.

Have a look online for a Variable Signal Attenuator. It's a device that can be added to a aerial signal cable just before it goes in to the tuner. The adjuster allows the signal level to be reduced. Watch the TV's signal quality and signal level displays if it has them. As signal level (power) reduces you'll actually see signal quality increase. If you go too far then quality will start to go down again. The optimum point is where quality is highest.

How to resolve TV tuning issues?

Check the orientation of the antenna. Try to rotate it, and see whether the signal strength varies. If the signal strength is too weak, digital channels will show many problems. Try a signal booster. Contact any service technician. http://electronicshelponline.blogspot.com/

Can anyone tell me why all of my BBC digital channels have no signal at night or the early morning, but work again during the day!? thanks

Check the signal strength. If the signal strength is weak, this can happen to digital channels. For analogue channels, the fault due to weak signal will be a grainy picture.

Unable to get BBC 1 and 2 on Digital. Both Channels are ok on Analogue but switch to Digital and programmes start at ITV( channel3) Have re tuned since last digital update but still the same. Have used the...

There is not a problem with the TV despite it's age this is can be due to your reception of the digital package for BBC. Have you checked through he full listings? sometimes the BBC channel will be at a different number setting because of the transmitter you are receiving. I assume you are using a digital box, you can enter a menu which will give you an indication of the strength & quality of the incoming signal. Do you pick up some of the other BBC channels such as BBC3 or CBBC? It's possible your aerial strength is a bit weak for the digital BBC package & you may need to have that looked at.
