Hello jkdpip,
There are two possible issues, but easy to do. When decalcifying your unit the solution should be 2 parts water and 1 part vinegar. So if you have a 12 cup maker it would be 8 cups water and 4 cups vinegar. Complete the process with a pot or two of fresh water to rinse. Second, there may be a water filter stick that is removable. Open the lid and look for it in one of the corners, pull it out and remove the carbon filter there. (You can get a new on Amazon). Then replace the stick.
I hope this is a help for you. If it is please leave positive feedback for me. Thanks! NormanZ

This morning when my wife went to make coffee. The clean light came on. we couldn't get it to shut off. She went through the clean cycle. The light came back on again. What should we do ?? Mr. Coffee...

I know this sounds like a pain but it takes a while to get that silly light to stop.
If you have problems call the 1-800 number below.
Decalcifying your MR. COFFEE® Coffeemaker Minerals (calcium/limestone) found
in water will leave deposits in your coffeemaker and affect its performance. It's
recommended that you regularly remove these deposits using MR. COFFEE® Cleaner
or vinegar. MR. COFFEE® Cleaner is available at many retail stores or by calling the MR.
COFFEE® Consumer Service Department at 1-800-MR COFFEE (1-800-672-6333).
1. Follow package instructions to prepare one batch of MR. COFFEE® Cleaner. Pour the
mixture into the water reservoir. Before decalcifying, remove the water filtration disk
from the machine.
NOTE: 4 cups or 20 fl. oz. of undiluted, white household vinegar may be used as a
substitute for the cleaner.
2. Place an empty MR. COFFEE® 10-12 cup basket-style paper filter
or MR. COFFEE® permanent filter into the filter basket and slide
the brew basket in place.
3. Place the empty decanter back in the unit.
4. Press the CLEAN button until the CLEAN indicator light turns on
(Figure 9). For your convenience the cleaning cycle is automatic.
The entire cycle will take 45-60 minutes to complete.
During the cleaning your coffeemaker will:
a. Slow brew approx. 3 cups of cleaning solution.
b. Pause for 30 minutes (the CLEAN light will remain on to alert
you that the process is active).
c. After 30 minutes, your coffeemaker will brew the remainder of the cleaning
solution.
d. When complete, the CLEAN light will turn off and your coffeemaker will turn off.
5. Discard the cleaning solution and rinse the decanter thoroughly with clean water.
6. Fill the water reservoir with clean, fresh water.
7. Place the empty decanter back on the coffeemaker.
8. Remove and discard the paper filter used during the cleaning cycle. If a Mr. Coffee®
permanent filter was used during cleaning, remove it and rinse it thoroughly before
replacing it in the filter basket.
9. Begin brewing and allow the full brew cycle to complete.
10. Repeat steps 5 through 9 one more time.

My Pot wont brew

mcdevito75 here, Your Mr. Coffee may need cleaning, here"s how, Fill the resovoir with white vinegar, cycle thru the machine 3 times, half way thru the 3rd time stop 1/2 way thru and turn off machine for 30 minutes, then recycle. After that rinse your Mr, Coffeee by cycleing thru fresh water each cycle takes another resovoir of fresh water to get rid of the vinegar. If this is not the problem, maybe the pump is shot. Contact Mr. Coffee by phone or online at Mr. Coffee.com or replace the machine.

MR COFFEE FTX49. Brewing starts, then stops

Mine just started to do the exact same thing. So I decided to clean it using the "Clean" program and just water. I put the brewer through the cleaning program 3 times - each time it would brew water from 12 cups to 8 cups, I'd tap the brewer on the countertop, it would brew from 8 cups to 4 cups, tap it again, and it would brew the remaining cups. So, I called the Mr. Coffee help line (800-672-6333). The most-likely problem is that the hose is no longer attached in the water reservoir. The help line suggested that I take it in to a service center. I live in Urbana, IL and the closest service center is in Oak Lawn, IL - 2 hours away from me!!
Here is my solution:
1) Buy another coffee brewer.
or
2) Smash your current Mr. Coffee brewer into a million pieces (this relieves stress) and go buy another coffee brewer (probably stay away from Mr. Coffee products).
Hope this helps.

My cuisinart Grind and Brew is only making 4 cups of coffee. Can you help us to fix this? We've turned off the 1-4 cup button...but its still only brewing 4 cups, we have to hit brew again in order to get...

Another possible reason for backup - using paper/gold tone filter at same time. If not:

You have not missed anything. Unplugging for longer than 16 minutes (has 15-minute memory) is the only troubleshooting you can perform. Call Cuisinart to find out if you are still in warranty. All electronics have a failure rate. Cuisinart's is acceptably low, but their coffee makers are the least reliable of all their products. The basic problem with electronic coffee makers is that coffee makers produce high heat, and high heat kills electronics and melts plastic. At least Cuisinart has a 3-year warranty - higher than the industry standard.

Let me put it another way. All coffee makers have a high failure rate. As many Cuisinart coffee makers that break down, the non-Grind-and-Brews still have a 91 rating from Consumer Reports. Consumer Reports doesn't give ANYTHING a 91 rating. A lot break, but you probably won't fare much better by switching to a different brand. The problem with a Cuisinart breaking down is that an expensive unit broke down - you wouldn't be upset if your $15 Mr. Coffee broke every year. The law of averages is on your side - a 2nd Cuisinart will probably last longer.

Long brewing time

Clean it out with 1/3 caraffe distilled white vinegar and 2/3 caraffe water. Once it is clean, it should take the normal amount of time and will make slightly less noise since it isn't busy steaming off as much water. Also, double-check the filter basket and make sure it is not slowing down the rate of draining coffee.

Directions on how to use my Black and Decker Espresso Mio coffee maker

Be sure the red rubber gasket is in place and clean (ridge side in) and bottom water cup is screwed firmly on to avoid leaking.
HOW TO USE:
1) Fill the bottom water cup with cold water up to the inside lip.
2) Set funnel into bottom water cup
3) Fill coffee basket with expresso grind coffee and level off. (Do not tamp or pack). Make sure it's filled to the top.
4) Place filter onto coffee basket and set coffee basket into funnel
5) Place brewer over bottom water cup and screw firmly into place.
6) Place unit with lid in the center of a microwave oven set on high for 1-1/2 minutes. If boil over occurs, reduce the brew time in 10-second increments until no boil over occurs.
7) Grasp handle to remove unit from microwave when finished brewing.
8) Remove lid and check the level of espresso in the brewer cup. Standard brew is at least 2 oz. If you don't have this level brew, replace lid and microwave on high another 10 seconds. Wait 20-30 seconds for bubbling to stop.
CLEANING/ADDITIONAL BREWING:
1. Under cold running water, unscrew the bottom water cup. CAUTION: It is normal for some water to be left in the bottom water cup. Both the coffee basket and any water in the bottom water cup will be extremely hot! If you prefer, allow the unit to cool for at least 3 minutes before unscrewing it.
2) To brew additional espresso, rinse Funnel, coffee basket and filter, then repeat brewing steps 1-8 above.
3) Parts are top rack dishwasher-safe -- hand washing filter is recommended.
