SOURCE: QCA Opal hot tub display reading OH.

The tub experienced an overheat situation. This may be due to leaving the t stat turned all the way up and not monitoring or the hi-limit sensor is defective. The hi-limit sensor will shut down the heating cicuit if temp gets above 105 D optimally.the fact that the heater light is on is a good sign that things are working at this point.Whether or not a suitable temp(100-103 D) will be arrived at is to be seen. If spa heat kicks off before set temp is reached then replace hi-limit sensor.

Sounds like you have an air lock. Loosen the union at the pump, turn jets on, air will escape and then tighten back up.

check to see that the flow switch is working properly, it may not have enough flow on low speed to allow the heater to turn on. Make sure your filter/s is/are clean. If you have a pressure switch instead of a flow switch, it may need to be adjusted or replaced.

SOURCE: We have a Great Lakes spa with a Balboa control

Contact Balboa's Customer support department directly at 800-645-3201, follow the prompts to customer tech support (or press 0 and ask for customer support). You will need to be at the spa, control panel open and ready to read off the chip number, and you will need to be proficient with a test meter (AC voltage). The SN error is related to a bad sensor(s), but can also indicate a failed board. An incorrect sensor set will also create this problem, so confirm you used the exact or compatible replacement. If the SN code issue is no longer a problem, but the spa is still not heating, look and see if the heater led is on. If it is, you likely have some burned relays on the board, which can be replaced cheaper than replacing the board. If you need more help, email me at [email protected]

Drained my 2000 Great Lakes Spa now OH is displayed when I turn up the heat it kicks out the breaker..

OH is overheat due to insufficient water flow through the heater.
Common Causes:
  • Gate valves not opened/partially closed.
  • Air trapped in suction lines or pump
  • Blocked suction fitting
  • Dirty filter
  • Restricted water discharge lines

Try remove filter cartridge and run spa.
Check pressure switch for continuity.
Unplug & plug hi limit sensor.
