How do you round 87,147 to the nearest 100

I want to take you through the steps of rounding so that you can do it with this number, and any other number.

Step 1 - Find the column in question.
Step 2 - Look to the number immediately to the right of this number.
Step 3 - If this number is great than or equal to 5, add 1 to the column in question.
Step 4 - If this number is 4 or less, don't add the 1
Step 5 - Since this number is to the left of the decimal, make all numbers to the right of this number a 0.

Using the example provided of 87,147 to the nearest hundred.
The hundreds column is the third column to the left of the decimal. Ones, Tens, Hundreds. In this case, the 1.

The number immediately to the right of this number is 4.

This number is 4 or less, so we don't add 1 to the hundreds column.

We set all numbers to the column in question to be 0.

I get 87,100.

Good luck.

Let me know if you have any questions.

Round 9756 to the nearest hundredfolds

Step 1 - identify the column in question - in this case the hundreds' column is the second column, in this case the 5
Step 2 - identify the column immediately to the right of the column above - in this case, the tens' column
Step 3 - if this number is 5 or greater, we add 1 to the column in question - in this case, we add 1 to the hundreds column, making it a 6
Step 4 - if this number is 4 or less, don't add 1 to the column in question
Step 5 - set all numbers to the right of the column in question to 0

I get 9760.

Good luck.

If you have any questions, let me know.

Estimate by rounding to the nearest hundred

118+146

Round 118 to the nearest hundred. Look at the number to the right of the hundreds column. If it is 5 or greater, add 1 to the hundreds column. If not, don't add 1 to the hundreds column. Make all columns to the right of the hundreds column 0. Since the number in the tens column is 1, we don't add 1 to the 1 and make the 1 and 8 zeros, so we get 100.

We do the same with 146. 4 is less than 5, so we just change the 4 and 6 to 0 and get 100.

We now add 100 and 100 and get our estimate of 200.

Good luck.

How do I generate a random number that is greater than 1 on a casio fx-300MS

The random number function always generates a number between zero and one. You can convert this to a random number in any range by a suitable combination of multiplications and additions. For example, if you want a random number between zero and ten, multiply the generated random number by 10. If you want a random number between one and ten, multiply the generated random number by 9 and then add 1.

If you want to simulate the roll of a six-sided die, multiply the generated random number by 6, add 1, and ignore the fractional portion. This will give you a 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, or 6 with more-or-less equal probability.
