This is brand new and just installed. F97 code comes up that I believe is a problem with the lower oven fan yet the fan is not broken? We turned off at breaker, we reset, etc. I cannot return this time as it was a special buy. Any suggestions?
Turned on lower oven self clean for about 5 minutes
Prayed and asked Jesus to please let it work.
Turned of the self clean and then tried the oven and the error code f97 was gone and the oven works again.
Thank you Jesus
I know this is an old thread but I'm adding to the replies incase someone else (like I recently did) does a Google search for an answer to the F97 error.
F97 is normally caused by a problem with the lower cooling fan. I ordered a replacement cooling fan and the sensor circuit board that attaches to it and detects the fan speed. The new fan does not come with one, you have to order it individually. Although the problem is probably the fan itself, the board isn't very expensive and it is quite easy to change if you're already replacing the fan.
I didn't know if I could do this by myself but after a bit of Google searching on how to remove the doors and a few things I managed to remove the oven from the wall, rested it on an ice cooler, disconnected the power (turn off breaker first) and had it in the middle of my kitchen floor, where I took many pics of how everything fit together before I started unscrewing panels.
I replaced the components in question, put it all back together with no extra parts or screws left over and installed it back in the wall. So far, no more F97 error and I saved hundreds of dollars on a service visit.
If you google around you will see this is a known defect that requires a repair. There are scores of complaints regarding this error from people who purchased within the last year or two.
How can you say that you believe that the problem is with the lower oven fan and then say it is not broken? Which is it? If the fan is not turning that could be triggering a sensor to give that error code. If not running check to see if motor is receiving power. If it is and does not run the motor is bogus. If it is not getting power you need to examine the components in line with the wiring to the motor for the issue. See if you can get a schematic - sometimes they are pasted on rear of appliance. Contact the manufacturer for one if nada.
Testimonial: "Thank you so much for your response. I obviously don't know if the fan is working or not I just googled the error code and it said it is the lower oven fan and that needs to be repaired. Thank you for your response, however. I really appreciate you."
