You can try re-installing the sound driver. Check the usb ports to make sure they're working. If they are,then it's the usb sound unit. If not, it could still be the sound unit. If you have an old sound card you think you can get drivers for, try that to confirm the bad usb unit. You could try the usb unit in another pc to confirm it's operation as well. Let me know.
Your board is an MSI (Micro Star Intl'l) Board. And you can find all your drivers and information on that board HERE. Make sure you click on the Driver's tab, and scroll down to the Realtek ALC Series AC97 Audio Driver area and download.
