The top and bottom bars are standard widescreen viewing. Your TV should have a zoom feature that you could use to zoom in past the standard 16:9 format. Look for a zoom button on your remote or in the tv setup settings.
I am unsure what you need o do. is it changing the resolution to make it fit? If not, then you can widen the screen by the monitor settings on the menu
You can only fix this with the settings on your tv remote, and can only be done while in zoom mode. (This is true of my Sony HD set). Go to menu, then settings on your tv remote and put the tv into zoom mode. Scroll down to Horizontal Setting and widen the screen. If there is an apply setting, click on that. That should take care of it.
