I have a LG made Kenmore refrigerator model 79578343800 that just stopped cooling and freezing without ever having a problem before. I thought the kids left the door ajar so I opened and closed it and reset the temperature and it worked for two more days the stopped again. a service tech told me I need a thermistor part # (ebg43493101) but every where I look it says no longer available. this fridge is only 5 yrs old how do they not make parts for it? do I just throw away a 2000$ because of a 30$ part

If you are sure the fan in the freezer is running and you don't feel any air flow out of the top middle vent inside the fridge section, then the damper motor must be bad. The damper motor is behind that vent cover inside the fridge section.

Frig not cold but freezer is ice maker not making much ice either

Is your fan blowing in the freezer? Frost on the back wall of the freezer usually indicates a defrost problem... defrost themostate, heaters, take back panel off and check evap for frost build up and if your fan in working.

Freezer was left ajar & now Refrigerator does not work properly

you have ice build up on the evaporator. two ways to cure. first switch off for 24 hours and leave with doors open. second switch off. remove back panel inside freezer and melt ice off with a hair dryer

Amana French Door Refrigerator "on" but no cooling; freezer still works

There are 2 possible problems. One is the defrost cycle is not working properly this is usually indicated by a large amount of frost on the back freezer panel. If so, the circuit will have to be repaired and the evaperator thawed to remove the ice build up. The other is the fresh food damper is not working properly this is behind the "lump" in the back of the fridge compartment above the top shelf, remove the louver panel to see if it is open or closed. closed will be warm open should be cold. The water dispenser reservoir is probably frozen due to poor air circulation.
