My scooter has a new battery and turns over but it will not start. I hook up the battery charger and it starts.

Could be scooter battery voltage is too low for charger to charge battery.

(It is a problem with gel cell batteries I have got a scooter that won't charge at all at home am going to try jump starting with another battery to fool the charger but I might have to buy new batteries.The Nursing homestaff took the scooter off my father in law and left it in the shed to get nice and flat instead of leaving it on float charge I should send them a bill for new batteries

U u should clean ur self-start button carbon,which makes from the battery negetive chargers so it cant take much more power to start up ur scooty.

I'm afraid your batteries have expired. They will show full voltage but the Amps are not being replenished.

You need two matching batteries and unless you are satisfied that your existing battery is retaining a satisfactory charge you should by two new batteries that are compatible both with your scooter and with the charger. New chargers are not expensive however, a faulty or inappropriate charger may well damage expensive batteries.

Then your Battery is not holding a Charge sufficient to Turn the bike over or start it.

Possibly Corrosion but Bets are a Bad Battery...

Hi. Most chargers with only two wires, have a small bridge wire from the
black ( negative ) wire to the middle terminal of the connector. This disables the controller while the machine is charging. The charger will still work without this bridge wire, but the scooter will still operate normally.
There are a few different chargers around that have an internal relay that disables the scooter, but these chargers are normally "on-board" chargers.

Did you remove the battery from the scooter before charging? The scooter circuitry may be giving the charger false readings.

Can you try to jump start the scooter using a car and some jumper leads? If it starts that way, then your battery is dead.

Hi, did you charge the batteries for at least 8 hours? Make sure that your charger has a RED Light When you plug it in, You should see Green light in 4-8 hours depending on the Batteries.
Secondly Your scooter batteries were dead when you got the Scooter, Judging from the fact you didn't get a Charger with it. I would recommend getting a voltmeter and checking the battery voltages. If the voltage is 11-12 volts, then you need new batteries. If this doesn't work check that fuse on the scooter it could be blown.

ok you do not need a new charger. the problem is you let the battery get too low. the battery has to have a little bit of power left in it to send to the charger, if it dosent then the charger can't tell if there is rilly a battery hooked up or not. you shuld probubly get a new battery. or you can email me and i will tell you a few things you could try to jump it back to life.      [email protected]
