My TV has power on the main board but won't turn on. When I plug it in the speaker pops but then nothing happens after that. Nothing looks bad on it. It's a 50" hisense model # 50K23DG

Fault to its main board. Short circuited component/s at it. Contact any service technician; or the authorized service center. If you wish to get some details; check the site linked here. Surf the site with patience. Pull up older posts. http://electronicshelponline.blogspot.com/ . In most cases, the main board might have to be replaced. If so, a software [firmware] update too might be necessary.

Had the same issue, I replaced two 1200uf caps on the power supply board and now it works fine again. Remember to replace the caps with caps rated for at least 35wvdc.

SOURCE: power supply bad on Sharp Aquos LC - bad board - schematic to ID?

Buy the green light going on means Standby is ok. Next, would be to locate the plug coming from the main board to the power supply and find the post that says PO which means power on. With your meter on that post, press the power button as see if the reading goes High, if it does then the main board is able to turn on the power supply. Next, find the plug on the power supply that goes to the inverter( the long board on the side) remove it and see if you have 24 volts coming out of the power supply when you press the power. If you do, then the inverter board is bad, if you don't have 24 v, then the power supply is bad. There are NO diagrams available for these set other than a flow chart if you can find one. A regular svc tech does'nt need a manual for these anyway.

Let me know how you do Kathy ?

SOURCE: my coby tftv3227 tv won't turn on and has no sound plugged it in new power source and still nothing what to do?

I see so many here with no sound/nopicture issues:

ISSUES:

1. IF sound main fuse/s are good.
2. If no power or standby check main fuse, standby power supply and any signsof damage you can see---burnt parts etc.
3. almost all these sets the troubleshooting involves checking voltages on the main power board to narrow down theproblem.
4. Be safe and if you do not know what you are doing don't open the set.

Answers to issues:

1. RE:fuses---if a blown fuse is found get a good replacement(not the genericones like Radio Shack). Many fuses are special even aside from amperage--Don'tput a higher rated amperage fuse in the set for any reason.

2. RE: power supply in set: if total dead aside from main fuse the set uses astandby power supply that runs 7/24 and a main supply (some are combined andsome not.

Here aside from checking fuses you want to examine all the filter caps on thepower/standby to see if any are puffed up or buldged up in some fashion--Iattach a photo of a good one---top should be silver metal and PERFECTLY flatand have no brown material coming out on top or bottom.

What happens in the standby area is they use caps with too low a voltage rating(saves money) which causes them to fail in a year or two---the standby runs7/24 and the heat dries out the caps and they fail.

3. Trouble shooting consists of the above and then at some point you have to buyand try a board to see if it fixes it or not.

4. Safety first--no TV set is worth getting injured or even killed over.If set is opened at least look for puffed up and bad caps like in thisphoto.5_27_2012_5_44_12_pm.jpg5_27_2012_5_44_31_pm.jpg

Have a Lg tv when I plug it in I hear a clicking noise from the main board and the power light blinks. I can press the reset button and the clicking will stop but tv still won’t come on. Is the main board...

Depending on the model maybe. Tv's like all electronic items use multiple circuits that are interconnected. So if you have a problem like you described it can be any interconnected board. I experienced problems like you described many times. Use your eyes and nose. Turn off the power, remove all boards and visually inspect. While boards are out sniff each board. Look on both sides of each board. If nothing is found I would start with the power supply and replace it. You can check the output voltage where the power supply connects the the main board. It is harder to check the main board function because the signals pulsing thru the main board require specialized equipment.

My Panasonic TV (model TC-P50C2) has stopped working. Seems to be power related. When the electricity was restored after a power outage, I heard a loud pop sound and the TV shut off.

Generally a new power board would fix this but IF you got a good replacement one it has to be the main board, look for the PSON or PWR-on terminal on the power board, hook a meter to that and look for about 3.5 volts on that terminal when you push the power button, chances are you won't find any and that is the main that is bad in that case

Hello, I have a Samsung LN52B630 TV that quit working...noticeably after a confirmed lightning strike nearby.

Screen coming on when the main plug is removed is normal, that happens on most TV's...Are the spots that have no volts supposed to have voltage? there is a legend on the board to tell what voltages belong no what pin, check that

Peavey tnt 115 blowing fuses

your either overloading something cause that's what pops fuses. My guess is that what your plugging in or into has a ground issue. I'm wondering if it does it with nothing plugged in at all. I would say if you have nothing in and it does it, you need to find where the ground issue is. that's my best guess

Set up the tv and there is a blue light flashing in the bottom left corner. i push the power button on the tv and nothing happens what should i do

That can be an indication of a bad power board or a bad main board.

There are several ways to narrow it down, but perhaps the easiest is to test all power board output voltages with a meter.

You don't even specify the model of the TV here so I can't be more specific, but you can find the general approach to testing power boards at http://blog.coppelltvrepair.com - search for "how to test" and a few articles will pop up on how to test particular power boards.

Yours won't be different in methodology, only in connectors.

Hopefully it is labeled.

Or , alternatively, you can send it over to us and we can test and, if neccessary, repair it.

Should be anywhere between $30 and $70 at least as of September 2012...prices may change , but hardly by much.

My vizio tv will turn on but no sound or picture. I can't control it with the remote either. I have to unplug it in order to turn it off s well.

Sounds like the mother board which is the main controller for the tv is bad now. i can tell from the description that theirs a defanite problem with the main board. if you consider the possabilities, you plug the tv into the wall you press the tv on button and the tv turns on with a noticeable click. this is the main relay tripping the power from standby to powered mode. this energized the main board that now looks for a input signal. now if their is no input signal you will see a blank screen and nothing else you may see the words no input depending on your model. but this indicated a few simple checks. the simplest is to check the signal wire coming into the tv. this may be a composite video wire or a hdmi wire. once you confirm ok signal coming in, then check that the tv is not plugged into a device that is not providing enough power for the tv to actually turn on. this would be like a monster power ups that went bad for example. id test it once by connection to a main outlet with nothing like a spike protector just to confirm full voltage to the unit. once you confirm the voltages are good. listen for any popping or crackling or hissing in the speakers. this will be a good indication of a problem with the sound controller side of the board.

If all else has failed then their is a problem with this units main board and the cost may or may not be worth it to you. if i had this problem i would actually sell this unit online for the cost of the screen and the internals. id recover most of my money that way and get a new one. good luck to you. as a side note to you. techs like myself will often look for non working units like this and buy them for parts to fix the same or like models.

Hi LG help guy, I have an LG plasma TV 50PG25, same as the 50PG20 by the look of it. Recently my wife and I went on vacation and as we usually do, unplug major electronics (PC, TV, etc.). When we...

No LED light at the front means bad power supply most of the time (not always though; rarely it may also mean bad main board or at least the portion of it responsible for the standby operations).

This is easy to happen as a result of a power surge, for example.

You can try searching here:

Or you can go to www.coppelltvrepair.com and search there as well.

SSP-R4232 Plasma TV, blue light on, but tv wont turn on.

At this point it appears that your main board is probably bad. You most likely have a 5 volt scource going to the main board but its not powering up the set. The main board is part number BN94-00796A.
You might want to have a technician look at the TV to verify this as the issue before purchasing it. Please take a few moments to rate my answer. Thank you.
