try the machine with the lance removed from the gun.
buzzing is usually the noise made by the motor when it cant turn. if the pump start to pruduce pressure but the pressure builds up too high then the motor will stop turning... faulty lance or faulty spill valve (dump valve)
If you have a Karcher then you should always post your machines barcode. The karcher barcode is on a silver sticker and is usually 15 digits long. Example 156987400000123 is actually model 1.569-874.0 and serial number 00123....
Dear Sir,
Normally when one closes the gun the machine stops. So you may have a blockage problem that is shutting the machine off. You may try to diusconnect the gun so that you run the machine without load. But..ALWAYS...with water being fed. Never run a power washer without water being fed. Without gun and water fed normally....your machine should continue working. If so you can attach the gun without the lance. If it works, you have a blocked nozzle in the lance. If so try with a very thin needle to clear the nozzel. Do not make the nozzel's hole bigger with cleaning, because then you lose power. Now these machines stop automatically by means of a control valve (Spill Valve). The spill valve when the gun is closed, pressure is created and the spill valve in turn will move to close the electricity by means of a micro switch. Spill valves give a lot of trouble if machine is left with soap in it, or if the machine is stored with pressure in it. NEVER STORE A POWER WASHER WITH PRESSURE IN IT.....always when finished working disconnect electricity, disconnect water and finally press the gun to release pressure. Well as I already said start by putting on machine without load. Then add the gun without lance so that you see that when you close the gun the machine stops....and when you open the gun machine starts again. All this without lance attached. Also in cases like these the Spill Valve sometimes gets jammed in the cutting off electricity position. Spill valves only need to be serviced with good silicon grease....but in doubt change the spill valve. If you open the machine the spill valve is located where you see 2 wires coming out. You should have special tools to remove and service/change the spill valve. Well hope you have a small idea from where to start.
It sounds like you have the vario lance set to low pressure or "mix". If you twist the end of the lance you can increase and decrease the pressure. The setting you have it on is for when you are applying detergent through the pressure washer hence why it is a wider low pressure jet.
First you have to do is try the machine without load. Attach everything as usual but do not attach the lance. Put on machine with water supply already on. If you close the gun the machine should stop. If you open the gun ( always with out lance)....the machine should start sending the water a bit far. If this is OK....then you have a lnance with a faulty, blocked NOZZEL. NOrmally the machine stops when gun is released because there is a valve (Spill Valve) that actuates a electrical micro switch. This in turn closes off te electric supply...stopping the machine. If with out lance your problem is still there....then the spill valve is faulty and the machine starts pulsating. AS I first said you must be sure that the nozzel is OK, so that you can blame the Spill Valve. When the spill valve is faulty the machine pulsates at high pressure. I raely service Spill Valves (Control Valves). I change with a new one. When open the cover using a TORX T15 screw driver....you locate the spill valve where there are 2 wires coming out. Some machines have the spill valve incorporated with the head and the intake and delivery valves unit. This I advize to change with new parts. These all in one heads are very good because at one go you change the spill valve and the other valves in one go. Therefore in a few words you either have a blocked nozzel...or you have the spill valve faulty. So I advice again to try the machine with out the lance. If when gun is closed machine stops and stays that way ..it means the spill valve is doing its job. If when putting back the lance and the pressure starts to pulsates...the lance nozzel is faulty and thus causing simptyms on the spill valve. Also try to use machine with a new lance...having a new nozzel. Fulltech.
None of these fixes works for me and the original poster, like me what he's saying is when he swaps the high pressure lance for the patio attachment it pulses on and off, but when that happens, you can swap back to high pressure lance and it's fine. This means it's the patio attachment not any valves or power source, I have the same problem
you have to lower the pressure at the lance for the detergent to be drawn into the hose. It works on a venturi principle. on the lance you will have to twist or pull back the end for it to go into low pressure mode.
the easiest way to check it is working is to take out the lance extension , the bit that fits into the trigger on a bayonet fitting. run the machine and see if it then draws in detergent.
If it doesnt draw detergent then look to see if there is a detergent valve fitted to the filter that goes into the bottle and check that it is fully open. sometimes ther is a non return valve fitted into the filter too. it could be that this non return valve has stuck. A poke with a bit of stiff wire should free it off its seat if it is that problem.
