Did you copy this pst onto your desktop from a CD? If so, then select the properties of the file and turn off theRead Only check mark. To select the properties, justright click the file and select "Properties".

Try these steps

* Click "File," then "Exit" to close Microsoft Outlook.
* Open Windows Explorer. Browse through your file system to where Microsoft Outlook is installed. On a 32-bit Windows system, this will be "c:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\Office XX," where "XX" is the Office version number. On a 64-bit Windows system, this will be "c:\Program Files (x68)\Microsoft Office\Office XX."
* Double-click "scanpst.exe." Click the "Browse" button and navigate to "c:\users\username\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Outlook." Double-click "archive.pst."
* Click "Start." The utility scans your archived PST file and reports any errors or corruption in the file.
* Click "Make Backup of Scanned File Before Repairing" if the Scanpst program finds errors. Click "Repair." Close the confirmation window when the repair is finished.

This issue may occur if you deploy Outlook 2003 with the Microsoft Office 2003 Custom Installation Wizard and specify a personal folder (.pst) file in the Windows Installer transform (MST file) by using the Default location for PST files path option. The problem occurs because you specify a file name instead of a folder path.

To resolve this issue for future installations of Office, use the Custom Installation Wizard to edit the MST file. To do this, follow these steps:

On the Change Office User Settings page (page 10 of 24), expand Microsoft Outlook 2003, expand Miscellaneous, and then click PST Settings.
In the right pane, double-click Default location for PST files, and then type the path that you want in the Default location for PST files box. For example, type %USERPROFILE%\Local Settings\Application Data\Microsoft\Outlook\.
Click OK, and then follow the steps to complete the wizard. When you have corrected the MST file, deploy Office by using the correct MST file.

To resolve this issue for an existing installation of Outlook that is experiencing this problem, specify the .pst file by using the Mail icon in Control Panel.

Error message when you start Outlook: "Unable to open the Outlook window," "No profile has been created," or "The list of Profiles cannot be loaded"Follow the step's below:This issue may occur on a computer that is running Windows XP if the Outlook.exe file was configured to open with the Windows program compatibility mode setting. When you set compatibility for Outlook to Windows 95 or to Windows 98/Windows Millennium Edition, Outlook displays this error message. This is because the location of the Outlook Profile information in the registry differs on a Windows XP-based computer.

To resolve this issue, follow these steps:

Locate Outlook.exe.

Outlook.exe is typically located in one of the following folders, depending on the version of Outlook that you are running:
- Microsoft Office Outlook 2010 C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\Office14
- Microsoft Office Outlook 2007 C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\Office12
- Microsoft Office Outlook 2003 C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\Office 11
- Microsoft Outlook 2002 C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\Office 10
- Microsoft Outlook 2000 C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\Office 9
Right-click Outlook.exe, and then click Properties.
On the Compatibility tab, click to clear the Run this program in compatibility mode for check box.
Click OK.
Try to start Outlook. If you receive error message again, use Method 2.

Outlook 2007 not starting. Error message says corrupted file. Run Scnpst.exe.

As an old Outlook user (for over a decade). I ever met similar error with my Outlook PST files before and got it solved with this Outlook PST repair software, the software extracts & restores those inaccessible Outlook items in a new .pst file and enables complete Outlook data recovery. If you want to take the most effective way, then try that program. Hope it helps too with your case.

Outlook 2003 restores deleted email files

Thats very strange,

Please open your outlook 2003. Then go on Deleted items, Rt click on properties.

Then check the option if you have done Restore defaults, then uncheck it.

What you need to do it to reinstall windows by finding your windows cd it might be windows xp
seup cd if the prodict key is on your computer you need a windows oem cd or windows xp oem you can make your own by geting the windows xp cd and making an iso image of the cd and go to thei386 file and open the document setupp and in the las line change the last three digits into oem
and save the file and burn the iso image with an iso image burning program to a cd and boot the computer with the cd and follow the instructions

All your mail, your contacts, your calendars, and almost every other detail of your life is in Outlook. To make sure you don't lose all this in case of a hard disk crash or some other disaster, you can create backup copies of your Personal Folders (.pst) files — that's where Outlook stores all the essential data.
Back Up or Copy Your Outlook Mail, Contacts and Other Data To create a copy of your mail, contacts, calendar and other data in Outlook for backup or copying:

Go to your Outlook folder in Windows Explorer.
Highlight all files ending in ".pst".
- Make sure in particular your selection includes "outlook.pst" and "archive.pst".
Select Edit | Copy from the menu to copy them.
Open the folder where you want to put your backup copies in Windows Explorer.
- Ideally, this will be on another computer, on a removable disk stored far away from your home, somewhere on the Internet, or at least on a different hard disk.
Select Edit | Paste from the menu to paste your .pst files to the backup location

Restore from Your Outlook Backup Your backup copy of Outlook data is now in place, ready to be restored when you need it.

Restore Outlook Mail, Contacts and Other Data from a Backup To restore your mail, contacts and other data from a backup copy of an Outlook PST file:

Select File | Import and Export... from the menu in Outlook.
Select Import from another program or file.
Click Next.
Highlight Personal Folder File (PST).
Click Next again.
Now use the Browse button to select the backup copy of the PST file you want to recover from your backup location.
Make sure Replace duplicates with items imported is selected.
Click Next.
Finish the import process with Finish.

Usually, the default import settings work fine, but you may want to tweak them to suit your needs.

Hi,
Just follow the following steps to import .pst file in outlook.
1. Copy and paste .pst file from backed up drive to currently working drive.
2. Then open outlook to restore .pst file data.
3. Now in Outlook go to file and then Import and export and then locate .pst file from drive and click on Open.

That's all, you have imported all items from pst file to Outlook.
