Vacuum starts and stops when the hose assembly is moved.

Do you replace the entire hose assembly or take it apart to find the problem?

How can I extend the hose so I don't have to bend so far down when I vacuum. I am tall

You could try wearing the cleaner like a backpack...

I live in a small town and there are at least two businesses here where I could buy vacuum cleaner hose by the metre.
I have also seen purpose-made 1 metre hose extensions.

It isn't always easy but I have repaired and replaced hoses, changed ends and generally managed to use surplus and discarded hoses rather than buy new.

I suggest you approach the sort of business that supplies vacuum cleaners and washers and suchlike to other businesses rather than a high street type shop.

Good luck!

How to use the upholstery attachment for hoover max extra 60 carpet cleaner?

Hey there! The nozzle/valve that releases the solution from the hose may be clogged and not closing off to stop the solution flow. You can try soaking the trigger end in warm water for a few hours to unclog it. Also make sure you are inserting the hose back into the hose slot in the back of the cleaner. If the cleaner is still dispensing from both the hose and the cleaner, your nozzle/valve assembly may need to be replaced. To order a replacement nozzle/valve assembly follow the link below.

Bearing on brush is hard to turn and smells like it's burning

bearing hard to move will put strain on the belt and burn it. the bearing is easily removable pull it off, sometimes its just a good clean it will need, if will not come off tape it off. remove the muck build up and give the bearing a good soak in some wd40 or oil and wipe off and check for good movement then replace the belt. as it will snap more easy now it has been heated up.

Recently Ive started smelling gas or exhaust fumes when my 96 Tahoe is sitting and crunk up! What could this be?

If you are smelling raw fuel i would check the fuel pressure regulator.Pull the map sensor vacuum hose off and look for fuel in the hose and also look in the air intake pipe for fuel if you see any in either of these two components then replace the fuel pressure regulator.

How do you change the filter? My in-laws have lost the instructions for their purifier.

You have a Honeywell air filter. Turn it over and there is a big handle which is a screw in the middle. Unscrew it and then lift the entire unit up without the outside screen protection. The filter will have a black pre-filter attached by velcro. Remove it, take outside put on the grass and hose out against the flow of air. (squirt from the inside out to remove stuff). Then use vacuum to blow the filter from inside to the out. Then vacuum the filter from outside in. Let the pre-filter dry. re-install in reverse. If there is a warning light, run on full, then push the warning reset for 10 seconds or more to turn it off.

Alpine XL-15 fan has stopped working

Hello night light,

How you proceed is going to depend on how comfortable you are taking it apart.

Given it's age and purchase condition, warranty isn't an issue. You will either be able to dis-assemble the purifier and try taking the motor apart and reassembling, or you can find a replacement motor (I've seen some on the web, they start at ~$50).

Another possibility is that the fan pot (the rotary switch that the knob turns to adjust the fan speed) may be out. If you have a multi-meter, see if you can get a signal through (when it's all the way open). If not, try replacing that first. Parts are available onthe web, I can't advertise per FixYa's terms of use.

Hope this helps.
