Connection problems with Panasonic Viera Cast

I recently purchased a Panasonic TX-L37V10 LCD TV. It has Viera Cast which is a limited access service to the Internet.
As suggested by Panasonic I connected it by using 2 Home plugs so that I can connect via Ethernet to my router and TV.

I keep gettng an error message on the TV saying
Invalid DNS settings. I've tried maual settings 192.168.2.2 but it doesn't like these either.
How do I solve this problem please?
Peter

I have had the same problem with my Panny DMR-BS850 which was resolved by changing the ethernet cable I was using which had only 4 contacts on each plug end for one which has 8 contacts. I tried all variations & combinations of IP & DNS before buying the new cable from my local pc store (£10 for 10m cable) and was relieved when setting the system to auto connect it worked within 3 mins. I think the slight delay was the router setting up a new address for the new hardware it detected.
My new cable states on it "Verified For Gigabit Ethernet" and is Cat 5e rated and I was assured that it will carry data for runs up to 95m long, which is contrary to the Panasonic support agent who told me to shorten my initial 5m cable to prevent signal degradation.

Give it a try.. it might just work.

I have a desktop HP connected to internet Broadband service via a "2wire" router thru my Windstream phone account. I have a Dell laptop that I'm able to use with the wireless connection...

you wont see the pc screen on the tv if that is what your expecting, if the tv is capable of receiving netflix then it will pick that up seperately from the pc, it will only need a wireless connection to access the broadband, you will also need a valid subscription to the netflix service. The fact you have proved you have a valid wireless connection means its connected. There will be an options button to select the internet content to view on viera cast

quote from panasonic ---

VIERA Cast's assorted online content just keeps getting better - in addition to the popular contents such as YouTube and Picasa Web Albums, it now offers Pandora Internet Radio, movies streamed from Netflix*, exciting sports from FOX Sports, tweeting web communications with Twitter, and even home video and audio conferencing with Skype. It also provides USB terminals for a keyboard and Wireless LAN Adaptor. No PC required. Skype function requires an optional communication camera TY-CC10.
Skype service will be available late June 2010.
*Netflix unlimited membership required. Service on Viera Cast TV will be available summer 2010.
*Keyboard and Wireless LAN Adaptor are not included.

You need to run a DLNA server on your Windows 7 PC, I recomend using a program called Serviio: http://www.serviio.org/
Simply download and install, select the folders that you want view on your TV and you should be viewing your films and pictures in no time.

I have installed a bridge on my network, but when I try to configure Viera Cast I keep getting the message "invalid DNS address, check your settings"

where is the solution??? The sideline said there was one!! I have the same problem and FixYa seems to be useless with this particular problem. Spent half a day fighting my TV setting, but no luck. Panasonic should specify what kind of devices can be used to connect their TV's to network: whether you can only use it with a wired connection going straight to your router, so you get DHCP/DNS resolved, or some other means. You definitely can't use wireless Access Point to get the Viera Cast to work. I tried bunch of modes and settings on my Access Point (Trendnet, both router and AP), but get the same error "DNS name not valid". What in the world!!! I get connection to my router, my DHCP is enabled, connection in Network Settings checks OK, but VIera Cast still gives me that DNS error. What gives??? Anyone smart enough around here to figure this one out? I tried both automatic and manual network detection, with the same results, even tried connecting another router to AP, which got connection right away, and thought I could full Viera Cast that way. No luck! What a useless option in a TV, when it doesn't work! FAQ on Panasonic's site are not helpful with this issue, either. No straight answer on the Net, either. HELP SOMEBODY!
