Someone with electronic troubleshooting experience will need to look at it. You might spend as much to fix it as buy a new one. Don't throw it away, someone will buy it like that on eBay or Craigslist. Sell it "as-is", disclose " will not power on".

I have an id pal that will not allow me to use the keypad. when i turn it on it freezes at the id pal screen.

I have the exact same problem and this started about three years ago which is about the same time you posted your problem. I may contact the manufacturer to see if this is common after a few years of the tool being in service

Hi - My Brady IDPAL says it is printing, but nothing actually prints... silence. I was reading about the "insert labels" contact issue. It not that.

Hello, this is a response from Brady's technical support team. Please try this:
The three contact pins in the printer are not making contact with the smart cell computer chip (the shiny silver pad at the bottom of each cartridge). The occurs after the printer is dropped or after shoving
cartridges in at an angle.

To remedy, remove the cartridge and look at the bottom of the cartridge opening (just above the Power button). Take tweezers or needle nose pliers and pull slightly on the pins (outward, and towards you). Please double-click and View the file below for a picture of the pins. Once these metal contacts are out far enough to make contact with the smart cell (computer chip) on the label/ribbon cartridge, the printer will know that labels are loaded.

In addition to the Insert Labels error, contacts that get pushed in can result in two other issues:
One, the printer will only print if the cartridge is pushed down
(which makes the smart cell touch the contacts).
Two, if one or two, but not all three, contacts are not all the way out, the printer may only print on half of the labels (because it is only reading some of the silver bars on the cartridge's computer chip, and narrow media activates only one or two bars, where as wide
media activates all three).

My Brady LabPal label printer seems to be printing labels that are not very bold and, in fact, the numbers are often only half printed. Do I need to change the ink cartridge within it, or what is the...

I have label cartridge in but it doesn't print, just says "insert labels". I have tried many times to take cartridge out, and reinsert, but it won't do anything.

I have a Brady ID PAL label maker, I was printing labels and the printer stopped working< I thought it was because the cartridge was low so I replaced the cartridge and it still does nothing, I can hear...

I had the same problem. I opened up the unit and found that the small drive gear had lifted up on the shaft and was no longer engaging the other gear. I could have probably noticed this from the battery compartment. I pushed it back down and now the unit works fine.

Brady ID Pal. Display says:

Brady printers have a sensor that reads information from the cartridge. The printer will not work if a connection cannot be made to the cartridge. The most common cause of failure is in the cartridge and switching to a different cartridge usually fixes that problem. Having the same problem with two cartridges is starting to indicate there is a failure in the printer, although it is possible (but not likely) to have two cartridges in row fail. A good first step is to be sure the printer is clean. If that doesn't work you'll most likely need to send your printer in for repair. A good source of free tech. support for the Brady ID Pal is Graphic Products. They even help people who are not their customers, They also do Brady printer cleaning and some repairs. They have an online for for requesting tech. support located at: http://www.graphicproducts.com/request-support.php or you can call 1-888-326-9244.

My problem is the printer says insert labels. we have tried different label but doesn't work

Try this, slide something between the top of the cartridge and the top lip of the cartridge slot and reinsert the cartridge. It worked for me but there could be different causes.

Printer does not work

There are 3 electrical contact wires in the cartridge cavity above the POWER button. The cartridges have a conductive surface that "shorts" a pair of these contacts depending on the cartidge. Make sure the conductive surface on the cartridge is clean and is making good contact with the contacts.
