SOURCE: have eureka 9734 replaced belt, put back together, brush rotates well but vacuum is not picking up anything, no suction.

It sounds like the machine is clogged. Check the port behind the belt and any and all hoses for obstructions and remove.

SOURCE: In Carpet setting, the vacuum brush does not spin

I put 3 turns of electrical tape around the area of the beater bar that meets the vacuum belt. This solved the problem short of replacing the beater bar.

SOURCE: what belt do I purchase for eureka whirlwind

Hello,

If you have the exact model Eureka that this repair was listed under, model 4388 then please find a link to the belt you need below. If you'd like to verify the model number, please check the back or the bottom of the vacuum for a sticker that also will contain the serial number, and look for the word Model Number. If you don't have the 4388, please just add a comment with the model you have and I'll be more then happy to verify these two models take the same belt, or give you a link to the belt that goes to your model if they are different.

Here's a link to the exact belt called for on the model 4388:

Here's step by step instructions on how to replace the belt:

How To Replace Brush Roll Belt
NOTE: Turn off the switch and unplug the electrical cord

hot during normal use. To prevent injury, avoid
touching the motor pulley when checking the belt.

SOURCE: the vacuum roller won't turn but the belt is fine

The belt may look fine but it's probably stretched out. Rubber belts are usually good for about 1 year. The tension of the belt is what allows it to turn under the strain of the carpet. Make sure the brushroll spins freely when held out of the machine. Eureka brushrolls are prone to melt down on the end caps. If that has happened you will need a new one.

Eureka Model Whirlwind litespeed. The rotart brush does not turn or rotate. Should it turn or rotate in order to give better suction?

Hello fnintel, yes, if you are using the upright vacuum it should spin, ( the belt likely slipped off, or the brush is clogged with hair and the likes.)
However, if you are using the hose on the vacuum like a shop vac, some models bypass the rotary brush.
Good luck!

Poor suction not picking up dirt from floor

Most likely your brush needs to be removed and cleaned or the belt is broken for the beater brush. Clean all debris that might be in the bristles of the brush. You will see a holder for the brush on each end that holds it into the frame of the vacuum. The two holders should turn freely. If they do not, spray a bit of WD40 between the brush and the holders and rotate the holders around the brush. Also replace the belt if necessary. Doing this will clear up the most common occurring cause of the problem you are facing.
Good luck and feel free to contact me if you find this does not solve your problem.

How to change belt on eureka whirlwind; what tool do I need

You will first need to remove the hood to gain access to the belt and brush roller. Turn the machine upside down, place the handle on the floor and the base on a counter. You will find several screws that hold on the hood, remove them. Turn the machine back to the upright position and remove the hood. On the right hand side,if your looking the front you will find where the belt goes. At the back you will find a silver shaft sticking out, put the new belt on there first. Then put the brush roller through the belt so it is in the carved out section of the brush roller. Then grab the brush roller by each end and stretch the belt till the brush roller fits back into the base. Turn the brush roller 3 compleat turns backwards and 3 forward to seat the belt in the proper position.
Then put back on the hood.

No suction when vacuuming, but suction is good when using hose

check for blockage from where the hose sets in its
holder to the roller brush. Also see if the brush is
turning, the belt maybe broken.

My Eureka Lite speed whirlwind has a bad odor when it runs.

It is either the filter or on the roller or belt.
