When I turn the camera on, the entire right side of the screen is covered with vertical lines blocking the picture. I tried restoring default settings, and turned on and off a few times, even took out the battery, did not help.

This is normal. Depending on what you have connected to it the lines could be white, black and white specs, or green. Just mode will show the entire picture event the parts that aren't supposed to be seen. I would not recommend that setting. Full is the best mode if you want to see the entire picture in the correct ratio.
OK, much as I have reservations, let's try service mode. To enter service mode, you MUST have the original Sony remote. You need to press these buttons in order, with the TV off. You have about 2 or 3 seconds to complete the series of buttons. Press: Display #5 (the 5 on the number keypad) Vol + (volume up) power Then, after the screen is lit, press the "jump" carefully 3 times. If the word "penle appears in the upper left corner, the optical block is OK and it's probably a Q-box problem. It COULD also be the LVDS cable that sends the signal to the optical block. If you press anything else, IMMEDIATELY TURN THE TV OFF AND START AGAIN. The TV should reset to the original values.
It sounds like th green LCD panel laminations or bonding has separated and this is causing your green lines. The optical block would have to be replaced to solve the problem.
Warranty still alive?
Hope so; the problem could be an expensive one.
The screen appearance is controlled by allowing light from a backlight through by turning pixels off and on.
This switching is done by a matrix that turns on vertical and horizontal pixels of the right shade at the right time to produce the image you see.
One of the control elements for the vertical that controls the transmission of green light from the backlight, has died (no longer switching off and on when told) and these are normally a part of the LCD screen assembly itself and not easily replaceable.
I would be talking to Sharp - this shouldn't happen in 6-7 months of use.
the light tunnel is either collapsing and blocking the light going through it (and needs replacement) or the vertical/hoizontal adjustment of the tunnel. if you take the lamp out and move the colorwheel (with a pencil eraser) to the clear section, you should be able to see a square through it. if part of the square is blocking the middle, the tunnel needs replacing.
by the way, on some projectors the light tunnel is called an integrator rod.
IF the area of the OSD (on screen display) displays the same vertical blue lines as the rest of the screen, then it is most likely the optical block assembly at fault. It's part number is A1606006A and should cost close to $2,000. I'm assuming the set is out of warranty. I know many people are hooked on Sonys, but as a technican that works on them, I wouldn't want one in my home.
I had the same problem with my monitor, saw only coloured vertical lines. I opened it, opened the back of the metal casing to get access to the circuits. There I found a loose connector. I reset it and it worked again!
